TRG GB

The document describes a submersible aerator system called the TRG that is used for waste water purification. It has several advantages such as easy installation, no aerosol development, low noise, and self-cleaning. The aerator operates submerged on the basin bottom and uses pressurized air and an impeller to finely bubble and distribute air in the water. This facilitates high oxygen transfer and degradation of organic substances. The aerators can be easily installed, maintained, and removed from basins without draining them.

Applications Operation
The submersible aerators are especially well-suited for deep basins The impeller rotates inside the stator and at the same time it aspirates
and high oxygen transfer rates. air. As the self-aspiration effect is relatively low, pressurized air is added
(blower or turbo compressor).
Applications in waste water purification:
At the same time, water flowing into the impeller, is thoroughly mixed
Mixing and equalizing tanks: with air and the mixture is radially discharged into the diffusor channels
Homogenizing of waste water pollution load and sewage quantity as of the stator. Due to the rotation of the impeller and the stator, the air is
well as avoidance of odour problems. divided into very small bubbles.

Activated sludge basins and SBR-reactors:

Degradation of organic substances.

Sludge stabilization:
Avoidance of odour problems as well as further oxidation of the
organic substances.

A concrete basin (or steel tank) can also be used for all applications.

Description

The submersible aerator TRG is a new aeration system for waste

water aeration which has been developed from the proven
submersible aerator TA. Due to the combination with a submersible
gear motor, the speed has been reduced and the construction has
been modified.

The submersible aerator operates totally submersed on the bottom of

the basin. Its principal features are a star shaped impeller directly
connected with the gear motor shaft, a stator with legs surrounding
the impeller, upward folding channel extensions as well as an air pipe
(can also be designed as air suction hose) projecting over the water level.
fig. 1

The fine-bubbled air is equally distributed in the liquid to be aerated via

extended channels with slits on the top. This increases the directly
aerated basin area and improves the efficiency of the aeration system.

The large exchange area thus created and the high turbulence of the
gas-liquid jets leaving the stator, allow high rates of oxygen transfer
and oxygen utilization.

Photo 1. The distribution of the air through the channel extensions is Installation
shown on this photo upon starting the TRG at low water depth.
The units are especially designed for stationary installation (see
photo 2).

The aerators are positioned on the bottom of the basin and stand firm
due to their own weight.

The air suction pipe (or the air suction hose) is connected above the
water level to the pressure pipe of the blower or the compressor by
means of a flanged joint (see fig. 2). The blower can be installed under
a soundproof hood directly at the edge of the basin or in a room on the
plant premises.

It is possible to dimension a blower or compressor for a group of

aerators. The necessary air volume can be modified by changing the
speed of the blower motor e.g. with frequency converter.

After having loosened the flanged joint in the air suction pipe (air
suction hose) the submersible aerators can be lifted out of the basin
with a mobile crane. The aerators can be reinstalled in the basins, e.
