Documents, unless you choose a different folder.

RECYCLE BIN- Recycle Bin, in the Windows Operating System, is the place in which
Windows stores deleted files. You can retrieve files you deleted in error, or

 you can empty the Recycle Bin to create more disk space. Keep in mind
that if you have deleted files through a MS-DOS prompt or shell that the
files will not go to the Recycle Bin.

MY NETWORK PLACES It shows remote resources in Windows 95, 98 and NT 4. In all other
versions of Windows, it is called My Network Places.

INTERNET EXPLORER Windows Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer;

abbreviated to MSIE or, more commonly, IE), is a series of graphical web
browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft
Windows line of operating systems starting in 1995. The beta version of
Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) was released in early 2008. Internet Explorer
supports Java and JavaScript and also supports ActiveX.

TASKBAR The task bar was introduced with Windows 95 and has been part of every
version of Windows since then. It is the bar that spans the bottom of the
screen and contains the Start button on the left side and the
NOTIFCATION on the right. The task bar also includes the current time
on the far right side and can hold shortcuts to programs directly to the
right of the Start button.

FOLDER In graphical user interfaces such as Windows and the Macintosh

environment, a folder is an object that can contain multiple documents.
Folders are used to organize information. In the DOS and UNIX worlds,
folders are called directories.

SHORTCUT ICON A link presented as an icon that provides a user with access to another
object.

WALL PAPER Wallpaper (also desktop picture and desktop background) is an image used
as a background on a computer screen, usually for the desktop of a
graphical user interface. "Wallpaper" is the term used in Microsoft
Windows before Windows 7 (where it is called the Desktop
"Background")

QUICK LAUNCH Windows provides default entries, such as Launch Internet Explorer
Browser, and the user or third-party software may add any further
shortcuts that they choose. A single click on the application's icon in this
area launches the application

NOTIFICATION AREA In Microsoft Windows XP, icons in the Notification area (on the right side
of the taskbar) are, by default, hidden when they are inactive. This
 behavior is determined by a setting, which can be cleared or selected for
each item.

START BUTTON The access point for all programs and special Windows places
(Documents, Pictures, Music, Games, Computer, and Control Panel), with
"most recently used" lists for quick access to recently used programs and
documents.

START MENU
The Start Menu and Start Button are user interface elements used in the X Windowing System
and later versions of the Microsoft Windows operating systems. The Start Button provides a
central launching point for application and tasks.

3-Stand By - Standby is a variation on shutting down the computer system that makes use
of a PC's power saving capabilities

4-Hibernate - you can preserve your batteries without taking time to close all your files and shut
down, and then restart and open all your files when you're ready to work again.

Properly enable Hibernation in Win XP:

A state in which your computer shuts down after saving everything in memory on your hard disk. When
you bring your computer out of hibernation, all programs and documents that were open are restored
to your desktop.
1.Open Power Options in Control Panel. (Click Start, clicks Control Panel, and then double-clicks Power
Options.)

2.Click the Hibernate tab, and then select the Enable hibernate support check box.
If the Hibernate tab is not available, your computer does not support this feature.

3.Click OK to close the Power Options dialog box.

4.Click Start, and then click Shut Down. In the What do you want the computer to do drop-down
list, click Hibernate.

If you are using Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows XP Professional with Fast User Switching turned on,
the Shut Down menu will present the options to Stand By, Turn Off, or Restart your computer. Hold down
the Shift key, and the Stand By button will change to Hibernate.
