Homologous Series Worksheet

Homologous series are groups of compounds that have the same functional group and similar chemical properties. Ethanol and methanol are in the same homologous series. The general formula for alkenes is CnH2n. Compound E is unsaturated and compound D is an alcohol. Compounds C and E are in the same homologous series as ethane. Compounds D and F are in the same homologous series. The general formula for alcohols is CnH2n+1OH. Alkanes have the general formula CnH2n+2.
