Mini Research Jaja

This document presents a mini-research study on the performance of grade 10 students in mathematics at Bilaran National High School for the third quarter of the 2022-2023 school year. It discusses the background of the study, statement of the study, significance of the study, methodology including data gathering and statistical treatment, results and findings, and conclusions and recommendations. The results showed that 25% of students had a grade/performance equal or less than 31.15, 50% equal or less than 34.5, and 75% equal or less than 41.15. The researchers concluded that performance was high but some students need improvement and teachers should support struggling students.

I.Background of the study

The effectiveness of the teaching methods and tools used in the
classroom, as well as the level of understanding and engagement of the
students, may all be determined from a study of students' math
performance in the third quarter. Educators can identify areas where
students may need additional support and enhance knowledge to meet
those requirements by having an in-depth understanding of the variables
that influence their performance in mathematics .
II.Statement of the study
This mini research will help the researcher determined the
performance of Grade 10 students in Mathematics at Bilaran National High
School for the 3RD Quarter of S.Y. 2022-2023.

1. How the mathematics affect the performance of grade 10?

2. What is the level of performance of grade 10?
3. Is there a significant difference between mathematics and
performance of grade 10 students?

III.Significant of the study

The researchers will be able to know and analyze the performance
data of each students in the third quarter. whether the 3rd grading
performance of the students in the said subject and grade is high or low.
Therefore, we can identify those students who needs improvements or
struggling in Mathematics and can suggest different methods and
strategies that will help them develop and enrich their skills and
knowledge.

IV.Methodology
A.Reasearch Design

In observation, the teacher determined that there’s a lot of student

whose still not be able to perform infront of the class because some of
them are ashamed. Some are not a fast learner and they're having a hard
time understanding the lesson. So the teachers wants to know or identify
the possible solution for the students to focus and improve their skills in
understanding the lessons. Math is a major subject so students thinks and
conclude that it is so hard to understand. Teachers and students need to
communicate and focus more to improve their capabilities and understand
the topic easily.

B.Participants/Responded
* Grade 10 student’s at Bilaran National High School

C.Data Gathering
Class Interval (C.I) Frequency (F) Lower Boundary (L.B) Comulative frequency (<cf)
46-50 2 45.5 44
41-45 8 40.5 42
36-40 10 35.5 34
31-35 15 30.5 24
26-30 4 25.5 9
21-25 3 20.5 5
16-20 1 15.5 2
11-15 1 10.5 1

D. Statistical Treatment

1.First Quartile (Q1)

2.Second Quartile(Q2)

3.Third Quartile (Q3)

V.Result and Findings

* 25% of grade 10 student’s has a grade/performance of which is equal or
less than 31.15

*50% of grade 10 student’s has a grade/performance of which is equal or

Less than 34.5

*75% of grade 10 student’s has a grade/performance of which is equal or

Less than 41.15

VI. Conclusion and Recommendations

Based on the results, the performance of G10 students in Bilaran
National High School was high and continued to increase during the 3rd
grading moreover, the teachers must focus on improving the skills and
knowledge of that 25% of students who struggle to understand
mathematics lessons and strive to match the ability of that 75% of
students with good performance in 3rd grading by giving and supporting
them with enough references or materials that will help them improve and
grow.
