Speaking Part 1 Interview

1 Choose five of the following categories that you might expect to be in Part 1 of the
Speaking paper.

hobbies and interests work and study animal rights


your hometown English grammar sport and keeping fit
cooking and restaurants future plans the lifestyle of celebrities

Work with a partner. Interview each other using the questions you have written.
3  Watch two students, Christina and Paolo, doing Part 1 of the Speaking paper and
complete the following sentences:
a Christina: I’m from Corinth, in Greece. I   have    lived  there all my life.
b Interlocutor: How often do you play football?
Paolo:           week. Yeah, every Saturday.
c Christina: Well, not really hobbies, but in my           I like to go to the cinema.
d Paolo: Everything is … well … most things           in English nowadays.
e Christina: Maybe, in the future I can use my English in another country. That          
good.
f Paolo: … perhaps, in the future I could           my own business.
4 Answer the following questions:

5 Work with a different partner. Interview them using the same questions you wrote during
Exercise 2. Try to improve your answers.
