MFG Crosswind rudder pedals

Firmware Upgrade Procedure ; Revision.03 ; 06.10.2016

You should not unplug device from USB or turn off your computer during the firmware update!!!

1. With MFG Device plugged into your computer, open MFG Configurator.
2. Bootloader button in MFG Configurator will restart the device for firmware update – bootloader mode.
When the electronics are in this mode they can communicate with the mikroBootloader program. If
connection is not achieved, After 5 seconds electronics automatically return to normal operation, so it is
important not to wait too long between steps 3 and 4.

3. Click the Bootloader button in MFG Configurator. Software will ask for confirmation, click OK.

After confirmation mikroBootloader


program will open. Electronics will restart
and wait 5 seconds for connection.

4. Click the connect button in the in mikroBootloader program.


The Picture on the right represents what happens after following
steps 3 and 4 correctly.
Please note:
- If you clicked connect too late electronics will revert back to their
normal operation - close mikroBootloader and go back to step 3.
- If the steps do not work you can repeated until “connected” is seen in
MikroBootloader's history window.
- In case of old or corrupt firmware the MFG Configurator is unable to
connect to electronics and enter the bootloader mode. If this happens
start mikroBootloader.exe manually from FIRMWARE UPGRADE folder
and re-plug device into the computers USB port - bootloader mode will be active for 5 seconds. If you click on the
connect button in the mikroBootloader program right after plugging in USB, history window should show as
“connected” and you can proceed with the steps below.

5. Click Browse for HEX the In mikroBootloader program.


A popup window will appear asking for the firmware file.
Direct this window to the firmware file and click the
Open button.
Pay attention to select a correct firmware for your device !!
- Normally you should upgrade to the latest firmware for your
device, but you can also select any hex file to downgrade to an
older firmware if desired.
6. Click the begin uploading button. Do not unplug the device or turn off power to your PC during upload.
Once complete the message below should appear.

After a successful firmware upgrade CLOSE mikroBootloader program.

For most firmware upgrades the user calibration and user settings should remain unchanged.
If there are any further requirements they will be outlined in the firmware changelog:

Sometimes when the firmware has new features it may be necessary to apply default settings prior to configuring
device. If this is the case then follow the following steps in MFG Configurator:
1. Open MFG Configurator tool with MFG device connected.
2. Click on show default
3. click on apply
After applying default settings you can apply custom settings.
