CONFLICT

- is a struggle
between opposing
forces that creates
tension or suspense in
a story.
Kinds of Conflict
1. Internal Conflict -
A struggle that takes
place inside a
character’s mind.
Type of Internal
Conflict:
Man VS. Self
The character
struggles with a
choice, decision, or
issue they must face
and deal with.
Examples:
1. Choosing to listen
in class instead of
talking to your friend.
2. A young lady
wants to go to the top
of a mountain, but is
afraid of heights.
2. External conflict –
A struggle between a
character and an
outside force.
Types of external
conflict:
Man vs. man- This
type of conflict occurs
when a character
struggles against
other character in the
story.
Ex. Darna engages
herself in a battle with
Valentina.
Man vs. society - This
conflict involves the
struggle between a
character and the
rules or laws that
govern the society in
which he/she lives in.
Ex. A woman is in a
hurry and runs a red
light.
Man vs. nature - In
this type of external
conflict, the character
struggle against the
forces of nature or
external environment.
Ex. A family is
stranded in a
snowstorm.
