NOTE:
* - When upgrading from version 4.1.2 and earlier to version 4.1.3 and later, you must typically export data, perform a clean
install of the Linux OS, install the new version of InsightIQ, then re-import the data. This is because the newer versions require
Linux version 7.x, and there is no upgrade path from Linux 6.x to Linux 7.x.
†
● If you originally installed InsightIQ 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 using a script file (.sh): You can upgrade Linux and then perform an in-place
upgrade to InsightIQ 4.2.0.
● If you originally installed InsightIQ 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 using a virtual machine template (.ova) file: You must export InsightIQ data,
upgrade Linux, reinstall InsightIQ, and then import the InsightIQ data.
‡ - InsightIQ 4.1.4.60 Patch 2021-04 is a patch that can be added onto the InsightIQ 4.1.4 release.

SupportAssist
SupportAssist is the remote connectivity system for transmitting events, logs, and telemetry from a PowerScale OneFS cluster
to Dell Support. SupportAssist integrates an Embedded Service Enabler (ESE) into OneFS and, using an access key and pin, can
connect directly to Dell Support or through a supported Secure Connect Gateway (SCG).
SupportAssist is recommended for all clusters that can send telemetry data off-cluster and is a replacement for the legacy
connectivity system - Secure Remote Services (SRS). OneFS clusters can continue to use SRS and setup new connections
using SRS, but administrators are encouraged to install and use SCG v5.x or later, which supports both SRS and SupportAssist.
NOTE: Clusters using IPv6 must continue using SRS. SupportAssist does not support IPv6.
See the SupportAssist section of the PowerScale OneFS CLI Administration Guide's General Cluster Administration chapter for
more information.
Authentication providers
The table in this section lists the remote authentication providers compatible with OneFS.
OneFS supports the following remote authentication providers to verify that users attempting to access the cluster are who
they claim to be. For information about how to connect OneFS to an authentication provider, see the OneFS Administration
Guide in the OneFS Info Hub.
The following table compares features that are available with each of the authentication providers that OneFS supports. In
the following table, an x indicates that a feature is fully supported by a provider; an asterisk (*) indicates that additional
configuration or support from another provider is required.
Supported clients
The table lists the clients that are supported by OneFS.
OneFS supports the following clients. Clients running Operating System X can connect to a Isilon cluster using the NFS or SMB
protocol.
Supported Clients
Any NFS client that complies with NFSv3 or NFSv4.0 client implementations compliant with RFC1813 and RFC3530
respectively.
Software 11
Supported Clients
Implementations of SMB1 provided in Microsoft Windows operating systems, and SMB2/3 systems compliant with the Open
Specifications document MS-SMB2.
EMC Isilon tests SMB clients that are covered under Extended Support Policy of Microsoft and the following:
● Operating system X 10.9
● Operating system X 10.10
● Operating system X 10.11
MacOS X
Clients running MacOS X can connect to a Isilon cluster using the NFS or SMB protocol. To take advantage of Apple-specific
SMB2 features such as color tagging, enable the Apple extensions for SMB2.
Web browsers
The OneFS and InsightIQ web interfaces support most modern web browsers with JavaScript, cookies, and SSL enabled. In
OneFS versions earlier than OneFS 8.2, Adobe Flash is required to view charts.
The OneFS and InsightIQ web interfaces were tested with the following web browsers. OneFS and InsightIQ might work with
different browsers or newer browser versions that have not been tested for compatibility. Exercise caution before using an
unsupported browser.
NOTE: The OneFS and InsightIQ web interfaces are best viewed with the above supported browser at a screen resolution
of 1024*768.

HDFS (Hadoop)
OneFS supports many distributions of the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
Hadoop is an open-source software project that enables distributed processing of large datasets across clusters of servers.
Hadoop is for situations where you want to quickly and cost-effectively run analytics that are deep and computationally
extensive. Hadoop distributions are updated independently of OneFS and on their own schedules. For the latest information
about Hadoop distributions that OneFS supports, see Hadoop Distributions and Products Supported by OneFS on the Hadoop
Information Hub.
For information about how Isilon Scale-out NAS can be used to support a Hadoop data analytics workflow, see Isilon Best
Practices Guide for Hadoop Data Storage.
SNMP
OneFS supports the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).This section lists the compatible versions of SNMP and
OneFS.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a protocol for network management. Use SNMP to remotely monitor
hardware components (for example, fans, hardware sensors, power supplies, and disks) and software or subsystems for
network-connected devices (for example, network interfaces, servers, switches, and CPU use). You can enable SNMP
monitoring on individual nodes on your cluster. You can also monitor cluster information from any node.

NOTE: To mix 16 GB and 64 GB nodes in the same pool, the cluster has to be running OneFS 8.2.2+. The 64 GB nodes
should be kept in a separate pool for high workload environments.
NOTE: SSD compatibilities require that L3 cache is enabled on all nodes. If you attempt to move nodes with SSDs into a
node pool on which L3 cache is not enabled, the process fails with an error message. Ensure that L3 cache is enabled for
the existing node pool and try again. L3 cache can only be enabled on nodes that have fewer than 16 SSDs and at least a
2:1 ratio of HDDs to SSDs. On Generation 6 nodes that support SSD compatibilities, SSD count is ignored. If SSDs are used
for storage, then SSD counts must be identical on all nodes in a node pool. If SSD counts are left unbalanced, node pool
efficiency and performance can be less than optimal.
