2. Import the downloaded Endpoint Protector Virtual Appliance in your virtualization tool and click
on the Start/Play button.
3. After the VM has booted, go to Networking -> Static IP to change the default details and give it
a free static IP from your network’s IP class. If you don’t have the networking details on hand,
use the DHCP option. This will fill in automatically your network settings.
4. Open a web browser and access the Endpoint Protector user interface by entering the IP
address set at step 3: https://ipaddress/
6. Go to System Configuration -> System Licensing and click on the “Start Free Trial” button to
use the Endpoint Protector Virtual Appliance for free for 30 days. All features are included.
7. To benefit from the latest features and functionalities, make sure your server is up to date.
Go to Dashboard -> Live Update -> Check Now, and apply the available updates, if any. Wait
for 5 minutes, refresh the page and proceed to step 8.
8. Go to System Configuration -> Client Software, download the agent compatible with the
operating system of your test computers (Win 32/64 bit, Mac or Linux), and install it.
9. After the client software has been installed, you can set the rights for devices / users /
computers / groups from Device Control, and create security policies in Content Aware
Protection to prevent files from being transferred over the internet.
10. To save valuable time, you can change the Refresh Interval (the time between the commands
from the server are pushed to the client machines) under Device Control -> Global Settings ->
Refresh Interval, - to 20 seconds.
