Department of Journalism & Mass Communication is
planning to conduct a One week Online Short term Course
on Sports Journalism for students/professionals to enhance
their skills. The Course will analyse the perceived benefits of
hosting major sporting events, and look into the culture of
sport. Why does sport matter so much to so many people?
It will delve into the practices of sports journalism, studying
how the techniques used by sports journalists compare
with those used by other news journalists.
About the Department
India is witnessing the new zenith of expansion in the media industry in its all formats
while world over the field of Journalism and Mass Communication is shrinking currently.
With literacy levels at about 71 percent, there is tremendous scope in the field of print
media same is the case with radio and television where numerous new channels are
filing for approvals for up-linking and broadcast. This expansion necessitates the need for
trained professionals and this is exactly where the Department of Journalism and Mass
Communication comes as a crucial training ground for the budding media professionals.
The programmes at Department of Journalism and Mass Communication have been
developed keeping in mind emerging market needs, while ensuring in-depth training for
the basics of the field at both theoretical as well practical level.

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication offers programs at UG, PG and


Ph.D in Media and Communication. Also, it offers BA-MC (International) in collaboration
with Western Sydney University, Australia in 1+2 pattern of 1st year in MRIIRS and later
years in WSU, Australia.
