Course Learning Outcomes: 8.1 Knowledge: By the end of this course, students will be able to: - Apply grammatical knowledge to support language skills: simple present tense of the verb “be”, possessive adjectives, possessive form, regular and irregular plural nouns. - Use vocabulary on topics related to daily life such as greetings, occupations, countries, nationalities, continents, colors, family, and vacations. - Understand and correctly pronounce learned words and phrases “we’re, they’re, isn’t, aren’t, be” in short questions and answers, “-s/-es” in nouns plural, ‘s in possessive, syllabic at in exclamation sentences, have correct intonation for questions, and use stress within sentences to convey information accurately and clearly. 8.2 Skills: By the end of this course, students will be able to: - (CLO1) Listening: identify the main idea, important information/details in + texts in simple English within 30 words introducing personal information, country, nationality, continent, and basic numbers. + texts in simple English within 30 words introducing information about oneself, greetings, and goodbyes in basic communication. + a short description in simple English within 50 words of a tourist destination. + a short conversation in simple English within 50 words about a vacation. + article written in simple English within 100 words about Asian families. + speech that is very slow and carefully articulated, with long pauses to assimilate meaning. - (CLO2) Speaking: Can interact in a simple way but communication is totally dependent on repetition at a slower rate of speech, rephrasing and repair.
