Its essential that the operator reads and observes the instructions and safety warnings, in this manual and on the machine itself, before commencing with the use of the machine. Failure to do so wil invalidate any liability the manufacturer may have. 4B EXTEC TURBO 11 wa ae 14 147 11.8 Note: SAFETY PRECAUTIONS It is IMPERATIVE that the following routine safety precautions are complied with at all times, failure to do so may endanger life, and severely damage your machine. THE OPERATOR MUST BE FULLY CONVERSANT WITH THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL ‘AND COMPLY WITH ALL WARNINGS GIVEN, AND ALL WARNINGS ON THE MACHINE, NEVER OPERATE THE MACHINE UNLESS ALL GUARDS AND ACCESS COVERS ‘ARE CORRECTLY FITTED, LOCKED IN POSITION AND SECURED TIGHTLY. ENSURE ALL PERSONNEL IN THE VICINITY OF THE MACHINE, STAND WELL CLEAR BEFORE IT IS SWITCHED ON, AND AT ALL TIMES WHILST IT IS IN. OPERATION. THE ONLY TIME THAT ANY PERSON SHOULD APPROACH THE MACHINE WHILST IT IS IN MOTION IS TO STOP THE MACHINE. ‘BEFORE COMMENCING WITH ANY CLEARANCE OF OBSTRUCTIONS, FITTING ANY ‘SERVICE PARTS, MAKING ANY RUNNING ADJUSTMENTS, OR COMPLETING MAINTENANCE, OF ANY REPAIR WORK OF ANY KIND, ENSURE THAT THE MACHINE IS STOPPED, THE ENGINE IS SWITCHED OFF, AND THE IGNITION KEYS REMOVED. HOPPER FEED CONVEYOR - ACCESS COVERS MUST ALWAYS BE SECURED TIGHTLY WHEN WORK ON THE CONVEYOR IS COMPLETED AND BEFORE THE MACHINE IS STARTED. ‘THE OPERATOR AND ANY PERSONNEL WORKING IN THE VICINITY OF THE MACHINE, MUST WEAR A HARD HAT, SAFETY BOOTS AND EAR PROTECTION AT ALL TIMES, EAR PROTECTION IS COMPULSORY FOR PERSONS WORKING WITHIN 10 METRES OF THE EXTEC TURBO WHEN ENGINE AND OTHER MOVING PARTS OF THE MACHINE ARE IN OPERATION. ‘THE OPERATOR AND ANY PERSONNEL WORKING IN THE VICINITY OF THE MACHINE MUST NOT AT ANYTIME BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY INTOXICATING SUBSTANCE, OR SUFFERING FROM ANY IMPEDIMENT THAT WOULD. INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY. The references to right and left sides of the EXTEC TURBO contained in the following instructions assume that the operator is standing at the HOPPER END of the machine facing the engine compartment. TURBO MB EXTEC 1.2 NOISE EMISSIONS ‘To comply with the supply of machine (safety) regulations 1992 amended 1994, EXTEC provides the following information - The diagram shows decibel readings taken by Castie GA 101/701 meter - calibrated 19,9.94, with engine and conveyor running, sited on factory assembly line. Unhitch the machine from the tractor unit after FIRST removing the two alr brake connections, Level the ‘machine by placing a precision spirit level on the main chassis channel under the tall conveyor. KG ‘Main Chassis Channel Jacking Legs Using lever marked Jack legs, raise the Jacking legs approximately 4” (100mm), and remove the two pins from the Hopper legs. Allow the Hopper legs to drop to the ground, and place the pins into the hole in the Hopper legs through the Hopper body, you may have to raise the Jacking legs a litle to achieve this. Lower the Jacking legs until the Hopper legs and the cross (or lower support) beam of the chassis touch the ground simultaneously. This may require raising the Jacking legs and ‘removing or adding hard standing under the feet of the Hopper legs or under the cross boam. TURBO MJ EXTEC 2.2 Safety Pins and Straps Side Conveyor Retaining Straps Fomove the cetaining strap fted between the two folded side conveyors and retain for future use, IF fited remove retaining chains from side conveyor (Woe: replace both items before transportation) Remove safety pins from telescopic arms at rear of the machine located beneath the ‘screen box. [Al personnel are positioned at a safe distance from the moving parts ofthe machine. Starting the Engine Engine Checks ‘The following checks should be done befor Engine oil level. Engine coolant level Hydraulic ol level. Diesel fuel level Draw any water from pre fier. ‘Throttle in low Idle position. All control levers are in OFF position. ‘Check that all ball valves are in OFF position. Levers should face along top of control panel in 3 o'clock positon, All access covers are secured. All guards are fitted and secured Ensure that NO person is standing near to or under any part of the machine, stock pers and any machinery being used with EXTEC TURBO. pting to start your machine. ONLY afterall the above checks have been completed may you continue with starting your engine. 4 EXTEC TURBO 3.1.2 Electrical Control Panel On the elecirical control panel you will see the following gauges lights and switches, Battery ON Engine Speed Throttle Water Temp Emergency Stop Low Water Level Oil Pressure Emergency Stop Remote Emergency Stop a Ignition 3.1.3 Starting 4 Set throtte lever to low ide position. 2) Insert ignition kay into the ignition switch. 3 Tur key clockwise to No. 1 position. All lights wil lash for soveral seconds. ‘Then the ON light wit remain on and the battery ight and oil light will also remain on, 4 ‘Tum key fully clockwise the engine will start 3) Foolease key. 5 Engine will now run at low idle. ) Pull the throttle back towards you to maximum, 8) The engine is now running et operating speed. Note: In low temperatures the engine should be run at low ide for 5 minutes 10 3.3 3.3.1 TURBO 4F extec Stopping the Engine Push throttle back to low idle position and allow to run at this speed for 1 minute, ‘Turn key fully counter clockwise. IN AN EMERGENCY, STOP THE ENGINE USING THE EMERGENCY STOPS. LOCATED ON THE ENGINE CANOPY SIDES. Operation Checks Unfolding Procedure Operating levers (see hydraulic controls) 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7 Note: Start the engine in the correct manner, using procedures outlined in 3.1 ‘Operate lever marked L.H. CONV and unfold the conveyor. The conveyor wil pivot outwards to-2 horizontal position. When this is achieved, release the tracking suppor rod from its transport position and locate it in tothe lower retaining bracket. This will hold the conveyor In the horizontal position, When the machi is in operation the device may be used to achieve fine belt tracking by ‘adjustment ofthe large nut on the rod with a spanner loceted within the engine ‘compartment. Operate the lever marked R.H. CONV and use the same procedure for erecting the right hand side conveyor. Remove the beit retaining straps, if fited and fit the head drum guard to side conveyors, Operate lever marked Tail Conveyor and unfold the tail conveyor half way and stop. Next operate the into their working positions. Replace the safely pins in the telescopic legs at the rear of the machine and fix the main conveyor underside panel into parked position with the latch bol. It in doubt contact Technical Support at Extec. 3.4 Screening ‘There are three main variables which effect the screening capacity and efficiency of the Extec TURBO. |. Material Feeding I. Screen Angle II Screen Meshes Dy Material feed rate is regulated by turning the feed speed control (see diagram page 7) on ‘the Hydraulic Control Panel. 2 Maximum feed rate can be achieved when the optimum scraen angle has been determined, adjust the soreen angie with the machine running so that the grading of the material can be established, 3) SCREEN MESHES (see separate chapter, removal and replacement of screen meshes), 13, MB EXtTEC TURBO 3.4.1 3.4.2 Reject Grid Operation ‘Test the operation of the grid using the lever marked GRID on the power pack. This wil tip the grid fully, pushing the lever in the opposite direction will then return the grid to its starting position. The angie of the grid can be altered using the adjustable lag stops fitted tothe side of the ‘tid frame. ‘The Extee TURBO is now ready for materials to be loaded into the hopper, Loading ‘The Extee TURBO must always bo loaded from the rear of the hopper, this will ensure both speed and efficiency. During operation you may need to adjust the material feed rate. You do this by using the feeder speed control, turn this clockwise or anticlockwise to speed up or slow down the feeder belt. You may need to adjust the speed of the side conveyor or main corweyor, it the speed control valves located on the hydraulic control pane! and adjust the 80, U speed as required 14 3.4.3 y 2) 3) 4 3.4.4 TURBO @F extec Remote Grid Operation Grey Rod Yellow BY PRESSING THE YELLOW BUTTON ON THE REMOTE CONTROL UNIT ‘A signal is sent to the timer unit allowing th rams to open fully and remain open for 2/3 seconds then close fully, thus tipping the grid and returning it back to rest. BY PRESSING THE TOP GREY BUTTON A signal is sent to the unit allowing the rams to open while the button is depressed. BY PRESSING THE BOTTOM GREY BUTTON A signal is sent to the untt allowing the rams to close while the button is depressed “Quick stabbing of these will give the grid a shaking action” BY PRESSING THE RED BUTTON (USE ONLY IN EMERGENCY) ‘A signal is sent to the unit and stops the engine from running, thus stopping all hydraulic power. “THIS IS ONLY TO BE USED AS AN EMERGENCY STOP, FREQUENT USE WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS” IMPORTANT I for any reason, the 80ma fuse on the electronic board ails it must only be replaced by another 80ma fuse, Incorract fuse replacement can cause extensive damage to the electronic components, Timer Setting Adjustment if your machine is supplied witha remote contolad grid, the timer for the operation ofthe arid tipping oyinder wil have been pre-set a he factory.
