Application TOTAL GUARD 16B14 is designed to provide complete protection from


corrosion and scale in low to medium pressure steam boilers with low
hardness, low alkalinity feed water, where an alkalinity builder is required.
Low to medium pressure boilers require special consideration in that the
presence of oxygen produces rapid corrosion and plant failure. TOTAL GUARD
16B14 contains an oxygen scavenger to overcome this problem.
TOTAL GUARD 16B09 also contains a blend of scale inhibitors and sludge
conditioners to maintain optimum, scale-free conditions within the boiler.
Dosage rate will be dependent on the feedwater quality and the design of
boiler. Proportional dosing is recommended. The most efficient dose rate and
injection point will be determined by a Culligan Engineer as part of our expert
consultancy service.
TOTAL GUARD 16B14 can be diluted with softened or demineralised water
(condensate will be acceptable) prior to addition to the feedwater.
It is recommended that TOTAL GUARD 16B14 be applied as part of a
complete program of boiler feedwater treatment. For more information, please

PRODUCT INFORMATION
When use situations necessitate, TOTAL GUARD 16B14 is in compliance with
the United States Food & Drugs Administration (F.D.A.) regulations pertaining
to Boiler Water Additives (21 CFR 173.310).
TOTAL GUARD 16B14 is available in 31Kg and 25 Kg plastic containers.
Other packaging is available upon request.

Safety Products in this category are highly alkaline in nature and have a pH >12.5. In
most cases contain some caustic alkalinity.
These products are non-flammable and non-oxidizing.
Materials in this category are corrosive to body tissue.
These products emit harmful fumes/vapour.
Handle with great care. Skin and eye contact must be avoided and gloves and
goggles should be worn, along with protective overalls and apron when
handling the product or solutions containing the product.
Use in a well-ventilated area or wear a suitable respirator if the product is to be
used in a confined space.
Do not store with Category D (acidic) products or materials.
Store in a well-ventilated area.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS


Ensure that the operator is fully informed and familiar with the use of the
product.
Avoid ingestion of the product by mouth and nose. To eliminate the possibility
of accidental ingestion, operator should never eat, drink or smoke when using
chemicals. In addition, protective clothing should be removed, and the hands
washed prior to eating, drinking or smoking.
Store in the original containers and ensure that the cap is always secure.
Do not store in temperatures above 40ºC or below 0ºC for extended periods.
Do not stack more than two high for prolonged periods.
Avoid storing near direct heat and in direct sunlight.
Store out of the reach of children and away from thoroughfares.
