MODULE OVERVIEW
GMRC was always part of the curriculum in schools until it was scrapped two decades ago and
integrated with Social Studies and other related subjects. This is unfortunate because it sames to have been
put on the back burner, in favor of other academic requirements. In view of such occurrence, it may be
prudent to introduce in the curriculum a “set menu” of lessons on good manner and right conduct so as to
better guide our youth in facing contemporary society.
Good Manners convey respect to those you interact with, and also commands respect from those you
interact with. Right Conduct is living in a moral and ethical way in the absolute sense rather than the
standards of any particular time to society. Through this measure the basic tenets of GMRC such as caring for
oneself, giving concern for others, proper respect to people, upholding discipline and order, and cultivating
sincerity, honesty, obedience, and above all, love for country will once again be inculcated in our youth.
In this course/module, human dignity, self-respect, humanitarianism, patriotism, diligence and a sense of
responsibility as main core values will be taught/learned. The desired outcome of the whole education reform,
“the development of the patriotic human being who is environmentally sensitive and God-fearing,
“MAKABAYAN, MAKATAO, MAKAKALIKASAN AT MAKA-DIYOS” will be inculcated in the heart and mind of
our clients.

SUMMARY
Your actions determine what people think of you and establish your reputation. They determine how
others will respond to what you do and say. The way to have good character is to always make sure that you
are honest, honorable and forthright.
“How you teach” is equally important to “what you teach”, especially when teaching integrity and ethics
and values. Teachers, by the very nature of their job, set an example for their students and should ideally
serve as role models of ethical behavior within and beyond the classroom. Teachers who teach ethics should
be committed to serving as ethical role models, as this is critical for the credibility and effectiveness of their
courses. In other words, to create a favorable environment for teaching on ethics and values, teachers must
demonstrate integrity and limit unethical behavior in the teacher’s daily practice at the university or learning
institutions, including their behavior ethically towards students, fellow teachers, administrative staff and others
(Hallak and poison, 2007)..
If you show good manners everywhere you go, you are more likely to encourage others to behave in
the same way towards you. Jump to good manners chart. Manners are important to make a good impression
on others in everyday life. They also help you to feel good about yourself and your identity.
