NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting
the airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.

B. REASON

(1) History
Several hydraulic leakages have been reported at forward pylon area due hydraulic
pipe crack Part Number (PN) D2902083100000 or PN D2902083800000.
(2) Objective/Action
The objective of this Service Bulletin (SB) is to replace the current hydraulic pipe made
of straight tube and two end fittings by a fully machine pipe.
(3) Advantages
The benefit of the new machine pipe is to avoid crack of the component because of
fatigue.
(4) Operational/Maintenance Consequences
This issue leads to potential in flight hydraulic system loss with significant operation
interruption.

C. REASON

(1) History
Several hydraulic leakages have been reported at forward pylon area due hydraulic
pipe crack Part Number (PN) D2902083100000 or PN D2902083800000.
(2) Objective/Action
The objective of this Service Bulletin (SB) is to replace the current hydraulic pipe made
of straight tube and two end fittings by a fully machine pipe.

(3) Advantages
The benefit of the new machine pipe is to avoid crack of the component because of
fatigue.
(4) Operational/Maintenance Consequences
This issue leads to potential in flight hydraulic system loss with significant operation
interruption.

significant operational disruptions.
(2) Accomplishment Timescale
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin is recommended at the earliest opportunity
where manpower and facilities are available.
F. APPROVAL
The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the Design
Organisation Approval ref. EASA.21J.031.
If an aircraft listed in the applicability has a modification or repair embodied that is not
of AIRBUS origin, and which affects the content of this Service Bulletin, the operator
is responsible for obtaining approval by its airworthiness authority for any adaptation
necessary before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.
G. MANPOWER
The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also
not included.

(c) As necessary, do the job set-up procedure as specified in the Removal of the

(a) Standard Practices given in this procedure:
1 For the identification of zones, refer to Ref. AMM 06-20-00, Page Block 001.
2 Tag all the parts you must remove and retain to make the subsequent
installation easier.
3 Put all the retained hardware in identified plastic bags and attach the bags
to the related unit.
4 For the specification of Material application codes given in this Service
Bulletin, refer to the Ref. CML.
5 To torque tighten the standard threaded fasteners, refer to Ref. AMM Task
20-21-11-911-001.
6 To torque tighten pipe unions, refer to Ref. AMM Task 20-21-12-911-001.
7 Remove and install fasteners in accordance with Ref. SRM 51-42-00.
8 Apply sealant in accordance with Ref. SRM 51-24-00.
(b) Place the container 5L (1.32 USGAL) in position below the connections of the
hydraulic lines.
(c) Remove the High Pressure (HP) pipe:
Refer to Ref. Fig.BA Replace the High Pressure pipe, LH Side and Ref. Fig.BC

1 Disconnect the flexible, item 8, under the check valve, item 7.
2 For A/C with anti-rotation device, remove the sealant from the head of the
bolts, item 2 and 4, and remove:

3 Untighten and leave installed the clamp, item 12, from the pipe, item 9,

- Component interfaces and the adjacent area is clean.
- Component interfaces and the adjacent area is inspected.
- PLUG - BLANKING from the line ends and the CAP - PROTECTION is
removed.
- The hydraulic line end-fittings are serviceable.
- The HP pipe keep in position.

7 Torque the HP pipe, item 11, to the hydraulic pipe, item 16, to between 85
and 95 m.N (62.68 and 70.06 lbf.ft).

NOTE: Make sure that the distance between the elbow of the pipe, item 9,
and the pylon structure is 13 mm (+3 mm max; -3 mm min).

8 Torque the HP pipe, item 11, to the filter item 10 to between 75 and 83
m.N (55.31 and 61.21 lbf.ft).

NOTE: Make sure that the distance between the elbow of the pipe, item 9,
and the pylon structure is 13 mm (+3 mm max; -3 mm min).

9 Tighten the bolts, item 2, on the check valve, item 7.

10 Torque the HP pipe, item 1, on the filter, item 10, to between 85 and 95
m.N (62.68 and 70.06 lbf.ft).

NOTE: Make sure that the distance between the elbow of the pipe, item 9,
and the pylon structure is 13 mm (+3 mm max; -3 mm min).

11 Torque the HP pipe, item 1, on the check valve, item 7, to between 85 and
95 m.N (62.68 and 70.06 lbf.ft).

NOTE: Use counter wrench on the square flange of the HP pipe item 1
during the torque.

12 Tighten the bolts, item 20, on the ICU, item 19

13 Torque the hydraulic pipe, item 9, to the ICU connector item 18 to between
75 and 83 m.N (55.31 and 61.21 lbf.ft).
14 Torque the hydraulic pipe, item 9, to the filter item 10 to between 75 and
83 m.N (55.31 and 61.21 lbf.ft).
15 Tighten the bolts ,item 14, on the clamps, item 12.
16 Untighten and tight the bolts, item 20, on the ICU, item 19.
17 Torque the 4 bolts of the ICU item 19 between 0.69 and 0.79 m.daN (61.06
and 69.91 lbf.in).
18 Following steps depend of the aircraft configuration.
a For A/C with anti-rotation device, untighten and tight the bolt, item 2,
on the check valve, item 7:

Use a triple torque procedure as follows:
a Torque to specified value.
b Loosen until the coupling nut is free to turn again.
c Torque and loosen again.
d Torque one more time.
26 Identity all the tightened union nuts with the red line Ref. AMM Task 20-23-
22-910-001.
27 Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
28 Do a sealing test of the reworked area with water:
a Prepare the area:
<1> Blow the area and the outlet with dry-dust-free air to make sure
that there is no pollution or obstructions in the system Ref. AMM
Task 54-50-00-200-805.
<2> Make sure that the joining areas and areas in contact with the
circuit are sealed.
b Do the test:
<1> Close the outlet of the drain corresponding to the tested area.

<2> Put 2.3 l (0.61 USgal) of water into the three compartments
under the 3 panels (Panel 411AL, Panel 413AL and Panel 413BL)
of zone A.
<3> Wait 15 minutes.
<4> Examine the water drain in zone A Ref. AMM D/O 54-50-00-00.
c Make sure that the test results are satisfactory:
<1> Make sure that the water level did not change during the 15
minutes test.
<2> Make sure that the water drains out normally after removing the
plug from the drainage system.

14 Torque the hydraulic pipe, item 9, to the filter item 10 to between 75 and
83 m.N (55.31 and 61.21 lbf.ft).
15 Tighten the bolts ,item 14, on the clamps, item 12.

16 Untighten and tight the bolts, item 20, on the ICU, item 19.
17 Torque the 4 bolts of the ICU item 19 between 0.69 and 0.79 m.daN (61.06
and 69.91 lbf.in).

a For A/C with anti-rotation device, untighten and tight the bolt, item 2,
on the check valve, item 7:

a Torque to specified value.

b Loosen until the coupling nut is free to turn again.
c Torque and loosen again.
d Torque one more time.
26 Identity all the tightened union nuts with the red line Ref. AMM Task 20-23-
22-910-001.
27 Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
28 Do a sealing test of the reworked area with water:
a Prepare the area:
<1> Blow the area and the outlet with dry-dust-free air to make sure
that there is no pollution or obstructions in the system Ref. AMM
Task 54-50-00-200-805.
<2> Make sure that the joining areas and areas in contact with the
circuit are sealed.
b Do the test:
<1> Close the outlet of the drain corresponding to the tested area.
<2> Put 2.3 l (0.61 USgal) of water into the three compartments
under the 3 panels (Panel 411AL, Panel 413AL and Panel 413BL)
of zone A.
<3> Wait 15 minutes.
<4> Examine the water drain in zone A Ref. AMM D/O 54-50-00-00.
c Make sure that the test results are satisfactory:
<1> Make sure that the water level did not change during the 15
minutes test.
<2> Make sure that the water drains out normally after removing the
plug from the drainage system.
