Débilitation of Planets
The degree at which a Planet gains/ loses its maximum strength is its exalted/ debilitated
position.
PARAM UCCHH BINDU
The degree at which a Planet is the most powerful in its exalted state is called the Param Ucchh
Bindu or Degree of Deep Exaltation.
PARAM NEECH BINDU
The degree at which a Planet is the most powerful in its debilitated state is called the Pram
Neech Bindu or Degree of Deep Debilitation.

NOTE :
RAHU AND KETU are not exalted or debilitated on their own.
Rahu is believed to behave exalted in Taurus and Gemini, and debilitated in Scorpio and
Sagittarius.
Ketu is believed to behave exalted in Scorpio and Sagittarius, and debilitated in Taurus and
Gemini.
Here too, they maintain the opposing angle of 180º.
Rahu and Ketu are not considered exalted or debilitated. But they give exalted/ debilitated
results.
RULES
1. The debilitation sign of a planet is 7th from its exaltation sign.
2. Venus and Mercury have opposite exaltation and debilitation signs - Mercury gets
exalted in Virgo and gets debilitated in Pisces. On the other hand, Venus gets exalted in
Pisces and debilitated in Virgo.
3. Sun and Saturn have opposite exaltation and debilitation signs - Sun gets exalted in
Aries and debilitated in Libra. On the other hand, Saturn gets exalted in Libra and
debilitated in Aries.
4. Similarly, Mars and Jupiter have the opposite exaltation and debilitation signs. Mars gets
exalted in Capricorn and debilitated in Cancer, whereas Jupiter gets exalted in Cancer
and debilitated in Capricorn.
5. Rahu and Ketu also have the opposite exaltation and debilitation signs. Rahu is said to
be exalted in Sagittarius and debilitated in Gemini, whereas Ketu is said to be exalted in
Gemini and debilitated in Sagittarius.
6. The order of strength (exaltation - debilitation) of the planets is as follows -
I. Exalted,
II. Own Sign
III. Friendly Planets
IV. Neutral
V. Enemy
VI. Debilitated
