The document discusses Blessed Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old Italian boy who is said to be beatified on October 10th. He is known for his holiness, passion for technology, and devotion to the Eucharist. He created an online exhibit of Eucharistic miracles that has been displayed in parishes around the world, including in a small town in upstate New York. The exhibit aims to strengthen people's faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Carlo continues to inspire young people with his example of integrating faith and modern media.

this week on vaticano
0:26 we bring you the story of the first 0:28 millennial blessed carloacutis 0:31 travel with us from italy to the united 0:33 states from cambodia to argentina 0:36 to learn about how his charisma 0:38 continues to inspire young people 0:40 worldwide 0:41 and will make a stop in a season to see 0:44 how the city is preparing for his 0:45 beatification 0:47 for this and more vaticano starts now 1:08 carlos cutis who's said to be beatified 1:10 on october the 10th 1:12 grew up here in milan italy 1:22 today carlo is known and loved across 1:24 the world for his example of holiness 1:26 for his passion for communications 1:28 technology and for his devotion to the 1:30 eucharist 1:34 antonia salzano carlo's mother says her 1:36 son 1:37 made living the ordinary extraordinary 1:43 so even the little things in life from 1:46 everyday life 1:47 obviously being a boy of our times he 1:49 lived where all the young people of his 1:51 generation lived 1:52 so computers video games football games 1:55 school 1:55 friends everything that is normal to us 1:58 but certainly 1:59 he knew everything that is ordinary in 2:01 the world he was able to turn into 2:03 something extraordinary 2:09 [Music] 2:23 carlo's passion was the world of 2:25 information technology 2:27 he was fascinated with the potential 2:28 good it could bring 2:31 he decided to create a web-based 2:33 resource where people could learn about 2:35 the faith 2:36 today it's an apostolate that his family 2:38 and members of the association of 2:40 friends of carlo acutis 2:41 continue to carry on 2:50 was very good at filming making films 2:52 and even using computers 2:54 what's more is that pope francis in 2:56 christus vivid which is the closing 2:58 document of the synod of young people 3:00 wanted to dedicate a chapter to carlo in 3:02 which he practically presents 3:04 karla to all the young people all over 3:06 the world as a model for how he was 3:08 able to use the media above all 3:12 what he has done there are these 3:13 exhibitions that were above all 3:15 the one on our lady on the eucharistic 3:18 miracles 3:18 which we say he then for extraordinary 3:21 coincidences 3:22 above all by in our opinion by the will 3:24 of the lord then they spread throughout 3:26 the world 3:27 i know i know 3:35 the work that carlos started now is 3:37 available in 17 languages 3:39 and anyone can see the eucharistic 3:40 miracles exhibit even downloading the 3:42 panels in high quality for free 3:44 to print and place them in their 3:46 parishes 3:47 [Music] 3:50 the exhibition on eucharistic miracles 3:52 was something that engaged him 3:54 let's start from about when he was 11 3:56 years old it appeared that he began to 3:58 be assistant catechist in the parish 4:01 because he had asked to be the catechist 4:02 helper and then sometimes he was able to 4:04 teach the catechism by himself 4:07 because he was a very prepared boy very 4:09 ahead of those who were his agent 4:15 apart from the web resources the 4:17 association amici di carlo accutis 4:19 has also started producing cartoons to 4:22 bring carlos message to children 4:23 and young people joy is already to be 4:27 found in this world 4:28 already in this world of course 4:32 but we must always look towards god in 4:34 fact 4:35 sorrow is what happens when we look 4:37 inwards 4:38 while joy is when we focus our gaze on 4:41 god 4:42 by nourishing ourselves on the eucharist 4:45 we feed on the love of christ 4:47 and we live in him in this way we can 4:50 all become 4:51 close friends with christ 4:59 antonia says that after his first 5:01 communion at seven years of age 5:03 he never missed an opportunity to 5:05 receive the eucharist because it was his 5:07 source of strength to live life with 5:09 integrity 5:15 his deep faith and special relationship 5:17 with the eucharist 5:18 helped even his mother to find her own 5:21 path back to the church 5:24 carla i always say was a little savior 5:26 for me because usually in families 5:28 it is the family who passes on the faith 5:31 in my case it was the opposite 5:33 it is carlo who in fact carlo i saw him 5:35 a bit like a father 5:36 an authoritative figure i do not see him 5:39 so much as a son 5:40 that is i felt him yes son but i also 5:43 saw him as something more 5:45 because carla had this authority that 5:46 was given to him precisely by his 5:49 closeness to jesus 5:50 that one could see 5:53 [Music] 5:58 she believes that carlo continues to 5:59 intercede from heaven 6:01 showing others the path to the church 6:02 through the eucharist 6:19 [Music] 6:26 after the break we'll take you to new 6:27 york to visit one of thousands of carlos 6:30 eucharistic miracle exhibits 6:31 present in parishes worldwide 6:34 [Music] 6:44 vaticano starts now 6:52 in upstate new york around a two-hour 6:54 drive from manhattan 6:55 located in a valley among hills is the 6:57 town of pauling 6:59 with a population of seven and a half 7:01 thousand people 7:07 it's a small quiet town with a vibrant 7:09 catholic population 7:11 and in the local church st john the 7:12 evangelist st charles borromeo 7:15 there's a special exhibition happening 7:16 at the moment 7:23 large posters carefully placed in the 7:25 pews beautifully illustrate miracles of 7:27 the blessed eucharist 7:32 this is the eucharistic miracles of the 7:34 world exhibition 7:35 designed and created by carlos kudis 7:38 [Music] 7:42 father john palettucci is the pastor 7:45 here 7:46 well this exhibition uh we started it 7:49 um actually when i first arrived here 7:51 was already here 7:53 to promote the reality of the eucharist 7:56 you know we live in a time unfortunately 7:58 where many catholics 8:00 are struggling with that belief as a 8:01 matter of fact i think here in the 8:03 states there was a 8:04 something done recently about that and 8:07 nearly 60 percent of catholics do not 8:08 believe 8:09 presence of our lord in the eucharist 8:11 which is a real challenge you know so 8:14 the message is to get people to 8:15 understand the miracles that actually 8:17 have taken place over the centuries 8:19 with the presence of our lord in the 8:20 eucharist so that's one of the primary 8:22 things that we're doing here at the 8:24 parish 8:26 inside the church each poster tells a 8:28 story of a miracle from a different part 8:29 of the world 8:31 detailing what took place eyewitness 8:34 accounts 8:34 and scientific verification 8:39 because of the covert 19 situation we 8:41 have to separate our pews and close some 8:43 pews down so it was a good idea to put 8:45 them 8:45 in those spots people come in uh before 8:48 mass they could read 8:49 about the eucharist and maybe elevate 8:51 their belief 8:52 uh in the real presence of our lord 8:55 [Music] 8:58 local parishioners stroll from poster to 9:00 poster taking their time to read the 9:02 various accounts of the miracles 9:04 [Music] 9:06 i didn't realize there were so many 9:08 miracles 9:09 it's interesting i enjoyed the one from 9:11 spain where the priest was going to take 9:14 host to some sick people 9:16 and while crossing a river he dropped 9:19 the host into the water 9:21 and so he was he got out he was stuck in 9:23 the mud 9:24 and so some fishermen came over and 9:27 they witnessed they looked and there 9:29 were three fish with hosts in their 9:31 mouth 9:32 and they swam up the river and put the 9:34 host back in the cup 9:36 over the past several years i think 9:38 there's been a 9:40 pulling away from the belief of god in 9:42 the eucharist christ in the eucharist 9:44 and i think through these miracles that 9:46 they would have renewed interest and 9:48 they would realize 9:50 the beauty of receiving god 9:54 in pauling this little town 9:57 my family is the fifth generation 10:02 in this church and they never had 10:06 they were a wonderful priest but we 10:08 never had 10:09 some of these wonderful examples 10:13 and what can happen to people when they 10:16 believe 10:19 among those here today is jack miller 10:21 the man who brought this exhibition to 10:22 pauling 10:23 and oversees it i was always in awe 10:27 of the the way 10:30 in which our lord provides 10:33 these miracles and and and mysteries of 10:36 our faith and how 10:37 the miracles then prove those uh 10:40 mysteries of our faith 10:42 there were so many and and all such 10:44 different stories of in such 10:46 amazing manners each one has a unique 10:50 story to it each each each miracle is a 10:53 separate miracle and they're all 10:55 miracles 10:56 how could you look at any one of them 10:58 and not be amazed by it 11:01 from what started as an idea of carlo 11:03 ikudis it's grown into a worldwide 11:05 exhibition 11:06 bringing stories of eucharistic miracles 11:08 to all corners of the globe 11:12 well as i look around at all these 11:14 posters i think of the the young man 11:16 this 15 year old boy who with 11:19 inspiration 11:20 and and the grace of god was able to 11:23 reach out to millions of people and and 11:26 change their lives hopefully 11:28 to realize the presence of christ in the 11:30 eucharist 11:31 i gotta watch because it might tear up 11:33 but 11:35 if we actually realized what we were 11:38 receiving 11:39 as the host touched our tongue we were 11:41 dropped out of joy 11:43 that's my firm belief it's to promote 11:48 the true understanding and belief of our 11:50 lord's true presence in the eucharist 11:53 and these posters should be here until 11:56 everyone in this parish understands and 11:59 believes that 12:01 [Music] 12:07 father will conquer is a missionary of 12:09 the society of foreign missions of paris 12:11 in cambodia 12:13 he learned about carlow through the 12:14 exhibition of eucharistic miracles in 12:16 rome 12:16 in 2006 and ever since carlo has 12:19 inspired him 12:20 giving an example of a new model of 12:22 holiness 12:26 as i started researching doing research 12:29 about him 12:30 i realized how extraordinary his short 12:32 life had been and it really taught me a 12:34 lot i was blessed to meet with his 12:35 family 12:36 i was especially touched by the 12:37 encounter with rajesh 12:39 who was uh probably carl's best friend 12:42 and a worker in his family and who 12:44 eventually himself became christians 12:46 through the witness 12:47 of carlo i was also touched by the 12:49 encounter with flavia 12:50 his cousin his cousin who like many of 12:53 our cousins and families and brothers 12:54 and sisters 12:55 had an experience of christ but slowly 12:57 slowly slowly 12:59 go away and kind of 13:02 forget about their first love and i was 13:04 so blessed because when i met her last 13:05 year 13:06 she was coming back to the faith sue 13:08 through she says the intersection of 13:09 carlo 13:10 and i was so happy to be able to share 13:11 this witness of faith that she had 13:13 shared 13:13 with carlo to be able to share it with 13:15 her it was like meeting someone who had 13:16 met 13:17 a living thing which was quite 13:18 extraordinary for me and so today as a 13:20 missionary in cambodia 13:21 my life is totally different so far from 13:23 what carlo had known but the mission is 13:25 the same 13:25 it is the shares the joy of the gospel 13:27 is all people and here is so urgent 13:31 with new technologies the world is 13:33 borderless for evangelization 13:35 and by using new technologies as carlo 13:37 did everyone can contribute and fulfill 13:40 the mandate of christ to bring the 13:41 gospel 13:42 to every corner of the world 13:52 association in argentina is also 13:55 inspired by carlo's charism of online 13:57 evangelization 14:00 in latin america and in the world they 14:03 see carlo 14:04 as a friend his love for informatics 14:06 stands out 14:07 he considered the internet as a way of 14:10 evangelization 14:11 today i affirm that he continues to 14:13 evangelize through the web 14:15 and that is why he has reached the five 14:17 continents 14:19 he continues to announce jesus through 14:21 new technologies 14:23 this is carlos secret carlo today is 14:26 still alive 14:27 and all the devotees through the social 14:29 networks 14:31 [Music] 14:34 in addition to the radio programs and 14:35 online evangelization 14:37 the whole diocese of rioja argentina is 14:40 preparing to celebrate the beatification 14:42 of carlo 14:47 [Music] 14:56 beatification of carlo akudis is going 14:58 to take place in assisi italy 15:00 on october the 10th after a short break 15:03 we're going to visit his tomb 15:04 and learn about the details of his 15:06 beatification stay with us 15:18 welcome back you're watching vaticano 15:26 [Music] 15:32 [Music] 15:39 cz is known as the city of saint francis 15:42 and saint clair 15:46 and for hundreds of years these two 15:47 saints have inspired young people to be 15:49 holy 15:50 [Music] 15:52 soon the city will be associated with 15:54 another blessed 15:55 father carlos ferreira director of the 15:58 santuario de las pugliazione 16:00 is proud that carlo acutis has found his 16:02 home here inside the church of saint 16:04 mary major 16:05 [Music] 16:09 i am amazed at how many people pass by 16:11 here every day 16:13 it has decreased somewhat with the 16:15 health emergency 16:16 but i can say the fact that people from 16:19 all continents pass through here is 16:21 incredible 16:22 seeing people of all ages and also the 16:25 priests 16:25 bishops nuns and many young people 16:29 children adults and families it is a 16:32 phenomenon 16:33 that truly only the holy spirit can 16:35 explain as a boy 16:36 only 15 years can draw in so many people 16:41 [Music] 16:50 i also like to listen to the stories of 16:52 many of these people 16:53 who come asking for a variety of 16:56 requests 16:57 from personal conversion to physical and 16:59 moral healing 17:01 and i really like the story of a young 17:03 man of only 20 years old 17:05 who said that it was by accident or 17:07 chance 17:08 he found carla on the internet he had 17:11 some insight in his life 17:13 then he had a dream with carlos which he 17:15 did not expect 17:17 and from there began a friendship with 17:19 him 17:20 and this young man was suffering from 17:22 panic attacks 17:24 and he came here to the sanctuary to 17:26 thank god and carlo for his healing 17:28 because it had been two months since any 17:30 attack 17:31 and he was feeling very well he said to 17:33 me 17:34 father carlos i am certain that kylo 17:37 kurtis's hand 17:38 helped me in all of this 17:50 through the eucharistic miracles 17:52 exhibition many people have learned 17:53 about carlo online 17:57 but benjamin taft a pilgrim from 17:59 minnesota met carlo 18:01 offline he was looking for eucharistic 18:03 adoration in assisi 18:04 and found the church of saint mary major 18:06 where he also encountered carlo 18:10 i think he's very much going to be an 18:13 inspiration of the 18:14 youth of today because there's so many 18:17 people who are getting 18:20 hooked on on the electronics and the 18:23 the apps that are out there they're 18:26 searching for an image 18:28 of themselves like carlos talks about 18:32 everybody needs to find 18:35 their own their own being rather than 18:38 trying to make a copy of another person 18:40 i also had that same struggle and when i 18:43 was growing up as like i 18:45 i thought i needed to be a copy of 18:46 another person and and struggled with 18:49 who i was for a person and and i think 18:51 it's great to 18:53 like i say it's great to have a witness 18:56 like carlos out there to 18:59 show that you you can be your own person 19:02 and 19:02 that we need more people 19:06 to be able to do different things we 19:09 can't all do the same thing 19:11 otherwise the body of christ will not be 19:13 able to 19:16 [Music] 19:22 thrive 19:28 scott fjall a seminarian from the 19:30 diocese of austin texas now at the 19:32 pontifical north american college in 19:34 rome 19:34 discovered carlo during his retreat in 19:36 assisi he says that he's impressed 19:39 at how carlo embraced his sufferings 19:42 i think he lived with a great love he 19:44 carried a heavy cross but i think his 19:46 story teaches us that 19:48 our cross can can be gifts to others 19:50 because 19:51 once we go through something difficult 19:53 we know what someone else is going 19:54 through and we can help them 19:55 i think his life has been a witness and 19:57 a testament to 20:05 also know as i that as usual i'm saying 20:08 that carlo is my little teacher 20:09 because he is teaching me so much above 20:12 all to rediscover two great treasures in 20:14 my life 20:16 the eucharist and love for the virgin 20:18 mary 20:19 he was able to say the rosary every day 20:21 and also go to mass 20:23 every day and then 20:27 another thing that comes to me so much 20:29 is his totality in god 20:31 for him there was no halfway it was all 20:34 or nothing when he said before he died 20:38 that he didn't mind dying yet so young 20:41 because he hadn't lost even a minute of 20:44 his life 20:45 doing things that don't please god and 20:48 he said 20:49 to always be close to jesus that's my 20:52 life plan 20:53 and this strikes me very much i too 20:57 want that totality in god 21:03 antonia salzano carlos mother testifies 21:06 that for carlo 21:07 even the news of his own death was a 21:09 source of joy 21:12 carlo carla when they told him that he 21:14 had leukemia 21:15 that it was a disease that he could even 21:17 die of he smiled and said 21:19 the lord gave me a beautiful alarm clock 21:21 as if to say 21:22 my time has come then he said i'm not 21:25 coming out of this alive 21:26 but mum i will give you many signs don't 21:28 worry 21:34 he performed the first miracles on the 21:35 day of his funeral where there were many 21:38 people who prayed for him 21:39 who prayed for him to help him because 21:41 he already had this reputation 21:43 the church was so full that many had to 21:45 stay outside 21:46 so a lady who had breast cancer without 21:49 chemo prayed to him 21:50 then she went away another lady could 21:52 not have children 21:53 she was 45 years old she prayed to carla 21:56 and became pregnant 21:58 these are the first fruits of his 21:59 intercession certainly many people 22:02 remember at this funeral 22:03 it seemed more like a party than a 22:05 funeral but indeed i think the festivity 22:07 was because carla then ended up in 22:09 heaven immediately 22:10 as he had asked the lord i offer my 22:12 sufferings for the pope 22:14 and the church in order to not go to 22:16 purgatory but to go directly to heaven 22:18 and therefore i believe that the lord 22:20 listened to him 22:28 [Music] 22:32 like his funeral the beatification will 22:34 be part of 17 days of festivities 22:42 the program of the festivities from 22:44 october 1st to october 17th 22:46 will be very intense days of visit it is 22:49 out of the ordinary that the tomb will 22:51 be open 22:51 and we will be able to see his body that 22:53 was discovered to be fully intact 22:56 not intact but integral having all its 22:58 organs 23:00 work was done to the face but it is nice 23:02 to see that for the first time in 23:03 history 23:04 we will see a saint dressed in jeans 23:06 sneakers 23:07 and a sweater absolutely this is the 23:11 first time 23:12 and this is a great message for us we 23:14 can feel holiness 23:15 not as a distant thing but as something 23:18 very much within 23:18 everyone's reach because the lord is the 23:21 lord 23:22 of everyone there will be two strong 23:25 aspects of these 17 days 23:27 eucharistic adoration during the days 23:30 and the 23:31 night vigils of eucharistic adoration in 23:33 the entire 23:34 city of assisi in fact we have called 23:37 this event 23:38 assisi the eucharistic city 23:42 and in those days and those nights all 23:44 the churches of assisi will be opened 23:46 with the possibility to encounter jesus 23:48 in the eucharist 23:50 from 7 pm to midnight and then 23:53 on the 10th and then on the 12th in the 23:56 upper basilica of saint francis 23:58 at 4 30 pm there will be the liturgical 24:01 celebration or feast of kalo akutis 24:05 of blessed khaloa the mass will be 24:08 presided 24:09 by our bishop here and then for the 24:11 closing 24:12 there will be the eucharistic 24:13 celebration on the 17th 24:15 also celebrated by our bishop and at the 24:18 end 24:18 the tomb of khaolo will be closed 24:34 carlo used to say that the eucharist was 24:36 his highway to heaven 24:38 and indeed through the eucharist carlo 24:40 achieved heaven 24:41 and now offers his example to all of us
