PART II
GD TIPS
www.reallygreatsite.com
hello@reallygreatsite.com
Group Discussion Do's and Dont's
Do's
1. Make a well planned first entry
Make sure that your first entry is well-planned and structured. The first impression goes a long way in
establishing your predictions. If you are the first speaker, understand the difference between starting and
initiating the discussion. Initiating is about giving an important and overall direction to the discussion
whereas starting is done just for the sake of speaking.
5. Focus on collaboration
Always present yourself as a team player with the ability to balance individual excellence along with group
performance. Remember, GD rounds are about creating common consensus.
Dont's
1. Don't Speak Randomly
Don't speak randomly without a plan and structure. This may give an impression to the
panel that you're not adding value to the discussion and project you as an impulsive
candidate who lacks planning
Individual Qualities
1) Content: This relates to the relevance of your arguments to the GD topic and their
comprehensiveness.
2) Analytical skills: These skills demonstrate that you're able to explore the 'Why' and the 'How' of
the subject matter.
3) Reasoning skills: This measures how effectively you can 'Strengthen or Weaken' an argument.
Always develop an overall logic to your approach beforehand.
4) Organisation skills: Judges your ability to present the facts/arguments in the right order.
5) Communication skills: This judges your skill of getting your point across using lucid language.
Avoid jargon as much as possible.
Group Skills
Group Skills are only evaluated in the context of a group and how you carry yourself while being a
part of one.
Listening skills
Leadership qualities
Body language
Group behaviour
Example of a GD Scorecard
Usually, during a group discussion, a candidate is judged on the following criteria
on a 10-point scale
ALL THE BEST !
