The English alphabet contains 26 letters, as given below:

(Left) (Right)

(First Half) A to M ⇒ 1 to 13
(Second Half) N to Z ⇒ 14 to 26
(Reverse order of English alphabet) Z to A ⇒ 26 to 1
(Reverse order of First Half) M to A
(Reverse order of Second Half) Z to N
• Letter F: F for fix. Fix and Six are rhyming word. Also, F for FRIEND.

• K-11 Kelvin K-eleven


• L-12 L-Twelve (Pronunciation)
To find the position from RIGHT side, subtract from 27

For any letter, Position from L + Position from R = 27

NOTE: In the alphabet series for any particular alphabet if we are asked, towards left it implies
that we have to count from RIGHT to left or from Z to A. and towards right it implies that we have
to count from LEFT to right or from A to Z.
Same direction ⇒ ADD
Opposite direction ⇒ SUBTRACT

Important facts related to the word ‘To’ and ‘from’


Meaning of ‘To’- Counting excluding the related alphabet
Meaning of ‘From’- Counting including the related alphabet
Example: 5th letter to the left of T……………….O

5th letter from the left of T……………….P

Same direction ⇒ ADD


Opposite direction ⇒ SUBTRACT

Example 3. Which will be the 5th letter to the right of 10th letter from the right in English
alphabet?
Example 4. Which will be the 10th letter to the right of 8th letter from the left in the reverse
order of English alphabet?

Example 5. Which letter is between midway of the 9th letter from the left and 12th letter
from the right?
