Tribute to Teachers and Parents

JOAN B. SAMBRANO
Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English
Magna Cum Laude

Ladies and gentlemen, honored guests, distinguished faculty, proud

parents, and most importantly, the extraordinary graduating class of 2023. A

pleasant morning to all of you.

As we gather here today for a very significant event, the PWU 100th

Baccalaureate Mass and Investiture Ceremony, we celebrate not only our

academic achievements but also the delightful opportunity of acquiring the values

that have shaped us into courageous, steadfast, and empathetic individuals,

ready to make a positive impact in our society, our country, and the world.

In the era of post-pandemic education, the role of our teachers has

become even more paramount, and their dedication has shone brighter than ever

before. In the face of unprecedented challenges, our beloved teachers have

displayed unwavering resilience, adaptability, and creativity. Their devotion to

teaching has been awe-inspiring as they transformed virtual classrooms into

vibrant spaces of knowledge exchange.

As we face the new normal, our teachers' sincerity and compassion truly

serve as rich sources of comfort and support. They have understood the

emotional toll the pandemic has taken on us, and they have been our refuge and

pillars of strength, offering not just academic guidance but also a listening ear

and a benevolent heart.

Their wisdom, cultivated through years of experience, has guided us

through uncharted territories, instilling in us not just subject matter knowledge but

life skills that will enable us to comprehend and appreciate every aspect of our

lives.

Moreover, we express our heartfelt gratitude to these remarkable

educators for being our anchors in the stormy seas, the constant motivators

during moments of doubt, and the champions who believed in us when we had

doubts and could not see our own potential clearly. You have taught us not only

how to succeed academically but also how to embrace challenges with courage

and resilience, imparting life lessons that will resonate with us long after our

formal education ends. Your lifelong commitment to nurturing our minds, spirits,

and hearts has left an indelible mark on our lives; thus, we are forever grateful.

Certainly, it is essential to recognize and honor the sacrifices made by our

parents and guardians in various ways. Their love is a force that knows no

bounds, and their unconditional love deserves the utmost gratitude and respect.

In a world filled with diverse and uncontrollable circumstances, the depth of

the sacrifices made by parents and guardians shines even brighter.

For students who are fortunate enough to have both parents by their sides,

the sacrifices made are often a joint effort—a testament to the unwavering

commitment of a united front. These parents have dedicated their lives to

providing a loving and supportive environment, working tirelessly to ensure their

children's needs are met, and their dreams are nurtured. Their sacrifices are

profound and inspiring, reflecting a boundless love that knows no limits.

In a special way, with utmost love and gratitude, allow me to pay a heartfelt

tribute to Pastor Rodolfo Quindara, popularly known as “Pastor Ruddy”. He

played an indispensable role in my life and my quest for a meaningful existence

through relevant education. His presence was like a beacon of light, guiding me

even through the darkest of times. His love knew no bounds, and he showed me

that family is not defined by blood but by the love and care we have for one

another. With his unwavering support, he helped me pursue my dreams,

reminding me to never give up, even in the midst of difficulties. To the

congregation of the Servant of the Lord Christian Church, thank you for

everything. You have helped me in so many ways.

For students who have lost their parents or guardians prior to this day, their

journey may be filled with a bittersweet mix of nostalgia and grief. While they may

not have their parents physically present, the memory of their genuine love and

generosity lingers on, etched forever in their hearts.

In addition, our self-supporting students face a unique set of trials. Their

sacrifices are a delicate balancing act, as they navigate the demands of

education and work to support themselves financially. These students exemplify

resilience and determination, proving that the pursuit of knowledge can overcome

seemingly insurmountable odds.

To my fellow graduates, as we reach the summit of our academic journey,

let us seize the mantle of responsibility bestowed upon us by our beloved Alma

Mater, PHILIPPINE WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY. It is not just an honor but a

profound duty to carry the torch of knowledge and embody the essence of holistic

character formation, truly inspired by the noteworthy legacy of our great founders

and enthusiastically sustained by our university administrators.

PWU's core value of holistic character formation lies at the heart of our

being as her children. It is the compass that guides us to make ethical choices,

cultivate empathy, and lead with integrity. This value inculcates within us the

enduring commitment to embrace diversity, foster compassion, and stand

resolute in the face of adversity. United by our shared commitment to holistic

growth, we are destined to be the architects of positive change, crafting a legacy

that will reverberate through time. Let us be known not only for our

accomplishments but also for the lasting mark we leave on the lives we touch.
In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Higher Power that

is respected and embraced by people from different religious and spiritual

backgrounds. I am grateful for the help and guidance I received on my academic

journey, and I truly recognize that my learning and growth have been supported

by something bigger than myself. The most meaningful achievement I truly

consider is being able to offer any achievement to the ULTIMATE SOURCE AND

GENEROUS GIVER - the Almighty Being.

Congratulations, Class of 2023! May we go forth with the deepest gratitude

in our hearts. Maraming salamat po.
