Technical information should always be available to the foremen and mechanics, because their
careful and constant adherence to the instructions is essential to ensure vehicle road-worthiness
and safety. In addition, the normal basic safety precautions for working on motor vehicles must, as
a matter of course, be observed.

above max. - marking -1-.
Important
• Coolant level must be 5 mm above max. marking -1-.
Note
This excess amount of coolant is necessary since the coolant
level may decrease automatically due to vehicle operation.

Note
Due to the adhesive strength of the sealant, the cover is bent
when being removed. For this reason, the cover always needs
to be renewed.
Prepare anti-twist protection -T10614- for loosening bus bar
bolts:
– Loosen bolts -C- for retaining plates -B- approx. 1 turn.
Important
• It must be possible to move the retaining plates -B-.
– Secure anti-twist protection -A- hand-tight to three-phase
current drive using bolts of cover -arrows- as shown in illus‐
tration.
– Unscrew bolts -2- for power and control electronics -1- ap‐
prox. 5 mm -a-.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to electrical connector.
– Before pulling off the power and control electronics, have
a second mechanic release and hold the connector lock
-arrow-.
NOTICE
Risk of soiling of three-phase current drive by sealant residue.
– Cover the exposed parts of the three-phase current drive.
– Coat new connecting piece -2- with lithium grease, and fit it
into power and control electronics -1-.

diagonal sequence.
Important
• The three-phase current drive -VX54- with power and control
electronics for electric drive -JX1- has been removed and is
secured to the engine and gearbox support.
• The sealant must be allowed to dry for at least 15 minutes
before carrying out the leakage test.
Carry out the steps below one after the other.
Step 1: Leak testing of tools
– Connect the pressure side of pressure and vacuum pump
-VAS 671 005- -D- to distributor -VAS 691 005/1--B-.
Note
Pressure in gearbox must not be released. It is needed to leak-
test the motor side.
Checking motor side for leaks:
– Connect distributor -B- with pressure sensor -C- and pres‐
sure and vacuum pump -D- to test adapter -VAS 691
