1) Categories B and C butt welds in nozzles and communicating chambers that neither exceed
NPS 10 (DN 250) nor 1 1/8 in. (29 mm) wall thickness do not require any radiographic examination.
2) All welds shall be visually inspected before & after the PWHT.
3) Pipe nozzle necks shall be seamless except that pipe size 14” and over may be welded plate pipe with full R.T.
4) If the major shell is a pipe, the circumference weld of the major shell shall be radiographic examination according to the joint efficiency required in the drawing.
5) Non-destructive testing required by the Code or by the Purchase Order shall be carried out after completion of all post-weld heat treatment.
6) PT may be substituted where MT is impracticable. (ex. PT for Austenite Stainless Steel & Non-Ferrous Materials, MT for Carbon Steel & Low Alloy Steel Materials)
7) Hardness test for the PWHT production shall be performed on the inside or outside surface of parent metal adjacent to weld, HAZ & Center of weld after PWHT.
8) Heads which are fabricated from more than one piece shall have the welds radiographed 100 percent after forming.
