Many schools do not allow students to bring cell phones to school. It is very reasonable because
bringing phone to school potentially disrupts the learning process.
Most students use cell phones irresponsibly. They use cell phones to talk to their friend during class
time. They also use the calculator and camera features in the class as well. Those potentially lead less
concentration in the time of learning and teaching process.
Students go to school to learn and behave fair way. Mobile phones provide a large temptation to cheat in
tests. They can communicate to anyone and almost anywhere in the world. Because of the small size of the cell
phone, students can send a text quietly and discreetly. The text can go unnoticed anywhere to get help on
answering tests, homework, and other class assignment. Learning in school is to behave fair not cheating.
Therefore, schools should ban students from bringing their cell phones. However it should be done fairly.
In case of an emergency some student need a call for help, providing easy access to phone is better.

One summer, I was backpacking around the Greek islands with my friend, Judith.
When I arrived on a new island one evening, Judith was feeling unwell. She needed to sleep, so we
decided to stay in a small town nearby and I bought the bus tickets. Judith was sleeping and I was chatting to
some people on the bus when I realized that it was completely dark outside. I found that we were travelling in the
wrong direction! I asked other people where we could stay and they told me about a place called Golden Beach.
They said we could sleep on the beach there. When the bus stopped, I woke Judith up, and we got off and

Strikers blockade Freeport's mine in Indonesia

Ali Kutarumalos, Associated Press, Jakarta | Tue, 10/18/2011 4:59 PM

Thousands of striking workers blockaded roads leading to Freeport-McMoRan Cooper & Gold Inc.'s
mine in easternmost Indonesia on Tuesday, preventing food, medicine and other supplies from reaching holed-
up staffers and their families.
Strikers at the Grasberg mine in Papua province - which holds some of the largest gold and copper
reserves in the world - are demanding salaries equivalent to what the Phoenix-based company pays in other
countries.
The blockade around the mine and at the port has prevented Freeport from sending supplies to
replacement workers and their families, said Sirait, the company spokesman.

"With no food or medical supplies, we're very worried about the condition of our employees and their
families," he said. "We really hope the government will help open this blockade."
About 90 percent of the mine's 12,000 employees went on strike on Sept. 15 demanding that their
current salaries of between $2.10 to $3.50 an hour be pushed to as high as $17 to $43.
But analysts say the high cost of additional infrastructure needed to support operations in Papua's
rugged Puncak Jaya Mountains - like roads and housing - make it unlikely they will be able to negotiate a
globally competitive wage.
It's the second strike this year at the gold and copper mine in Papua. The company said the first; eight-

Speech production is made possible by the specialized movements of our vocal organs that generate
speech sounds waves.
Like all sound production, speech production requires a source of energy. The source of energy for
speech production is the steady stream of air that comes from the lungs as we exhale. When we breathe
normally, the air stream is inaudible. To become audible, the air stream must vibrate rapidly. The vocal cords
cause the air stream to vibrate. As we talk, the vocal cords open and close rapidly, chopping up the steady air
stream into a series of puffs. These puffs are heard as a buzz. But this buzz is still not speech. To produce
speech sounds, the vocal tract must change shape. During speech, we continually alter the shape of the vocal
tract by moving the tongue and lips, etc. These movements change the acoustic properties of the vocal tract,
which in turn produce the different sounds of speech.

Nowadays, computers are widespread. They are useful, but they also have some bad effects, especially
for children.
As a computer application, the Internet is very useful. There is more information on the Internet than in
the world’s biggest library. Through the Internet people can get friends all over the world. Although they have
never seen each other, they get to know each other well. Do you know why? Well, they can send e-mails to each
other. The computer is like a door to the world! Computer games are also great fun! They’re better than TV. On
TV you can watch a space ship, but in a computer game you can fly it!
On the contrary, computers have some bad effects. A lot of children spend too much time on the
computer. They start playing and then they can’t stop. They don’t talk to anyone; they just sit and look at the
computer for hours and hours. As we know, a lot of computer games are very bad. There is a lot of shooting and
killing. These games are worse than TV. We can see bad things on TV, but in computer games we actually do
bad things.
Personally, I think that computers are useful. However, we should use them wisely so that we can
eliminate the bad effects.

Have you ever seen the film entitled Rindu Purnama? If you have, what do you think of it?
The film entitled Rindu Purnama describes the importance of family, friends, and love for others. The
theme seems ordinary, but Mathias Muchus and Ifa Irfansyah explore the plot of the story interestingly. You
know, the movie tells about Purnama, a homeless kid. He gets amnesia and should live in a shelter after Mr.
Surya’s car hits him. When Purnama leaves the shelter, Mr. Surya looks for him. However, when Purnama
comes back to the shelter by himself, Mr. Surya gets a greater conflict. He must condemn Purnama’s shelter for
property business.
In my opinion, Rindu Purnama is a great film with great characterization. However, I must say that come
characterizations are lack of full and total comprehension. It is weak point of this film. Whereas, it is very needed
in growing the audience’s emotion while enjoying the film.
Apart from the lack of full and total comprehension of some characterizations, the performance of all characters
is satisfying. The best performance is not only shown by senior actors but also junior ones. Some parts of the
story seem more interesting through the natural performance of junior characters indeed.
Finally, I will say that the movie is interesting and is worth to watch.
