GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

Northern Luzon Region

Isabela Girl Scout Council

BASIC COURSE FOR TROOP LEADERS

START – UP ACTIVITY

Name: _______________________________________________________________________
District/School: _______________________________________________________________

Welcome!
As you settle down answer the following question and submit during the orientation.

1. What do you know about Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting of the Philippines?

2. Why is it important to know the history of Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting and GSP? Will
this help you "love" the Organization more?

Being a Girl Scout means that I get to help and educate people, learn new things about
the world, and have fun while I do it.

3. Read the History of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) and write down the
important events and personalities that you can tell.(You can refer to books or the internet
as reference/source).

4. Write the GSP Vision and Mission in your GSP notebook. Give one example that
shows:

a. A Girl Scout is GOD-LOVING

b. A Girl Scout is PATRIOTIC

c. A Girl Scout is PROGRESSIVE

5. Name the REGION and the COUNCIL where you belong. Where is your GSP
Regional Office located? What can the GSP Regional Office do for you? Where is your
GSP Council Office located? What can the GSP Council Office do for you? (You can get
information from other Girl Scout leaders in your school, or you can refer to the GSP
website and other available reference)
6. Reach out to as my Girl Scouts as possible even if you are just at the comfort of your
home. Using technology, look for Girl Scouts who you think match the criteria set in the
individual boxes of the GSP Bingo provided. Put their names in the space provided.

7. Troop Management affects the whole life of the Troop. What can you say about this
statement? Do you agree or Disagree? Why?

8. How can you see yourself after this training? 2 years from now? 5 years from now?

GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES

What is Girl Scouting?
Girl Scouting is a worldwide movement that provides girls and young women,
aged 4 to 21 years old, a non-formal educational program based on character
development and the ideals of service. The Movement is open to girls and
young women of diverse race and religion and cuts across social barriers.
Membership is voluntary. The Movement is non-political and non-sectarian. It
is independent and non-governmental and helps in nation-building through
efforts pertaining to the home, school, church, government units, and other
agencies. While girls are the focus of the Movement, the adult volunteers also
enjoy many stimulating opportunities by serving the Movement. These
volunteers hold ultimate responsibility for the Movement. Self-training through
enriching experiences in Girl Scouting influences girls and young women into
becoming change agents who are responsible, decisive, useful, respected,
and acknowledged citizens in a changing world.
