In modern life, we are surrounded by
technology. It's integral to everything we
do, big or small. We can find examples of
technology in our homes and personal
spaces, in industry, in business, and in the
medical profession. Most people know
technology when they see it, but what
exactly is technology?
• The word has been derived from the
Greek word ‘technology’. The ‘tekh’ stands for art,
craft, and skill and ‘logy’ stands for the subject of
interest.

• The can be defined as a platform that

can perform any task as per our needs. Addition of
education with technology, it will become easy for
students.

• Nowadays, technology provides a digital platform,

and it has become an essential part of our day-to-
day life. Wherever we go, we see the use of
technology. Schools have introduced smart classes
inside the classrooms, and these smart classes are
the best example of the contribution of

also techniques and processes (like the

seem like all technology is only electronic,

• The top technology in use today in education
is video for skills (84 percent) followed by
online/distance learning (75 percent) and
virtual simulation (65 percent), tied closely
with adaptive quizzing and testing (64
percent).
• Technically the term virtual reality refers to
the usage of computerized technology
and devices to create virtual simulations.
This places the viewer in the same setting
so that they can not only see the image
but can feel it happening right in front of
their eyes, as in techniques. Which is
also an aspect of virtual reality. Being in
that technology embedded with the
required particular devices the users can

understanding virtual reality can be a 3
Dimensional movie. By the usage of
special glasses the viewer can see the
entire thing as if it's happening right in
front of their eyes. Similarly, the lights and
sound effects are taken into consideration
so as to ensure the feeling of the thing
happening right in front of our eyes even
though nothing of it is real.
• No technology can replace human
interaction totally although what they can
do is enhance it. Virtual reality in
education is being adopted at large for
almost all students of all age groups.
Virtual reality is a great tool to give
students a fresh perspective and real-life
experience of the thing they are studying
without even being there directly.
• Virtual simulations could support the
training phase of nurses. A survey from
Wolters Kluwer even found that 65% of
nursing education programmes adopt
virtual simulations, including VR. This
ensures that nurses are practice-ready and
enhances the training process. For
instance, Robert Morris University
developed a VR game allowing nursing
students to practice urinary catheter
insertion.
• At another institution, the University of
Nevada, Reno, nursing students use VR
headsets to visualize doctors and nurses in
scenarios with medical complications;
scenes they might not always be exposed
to during their education.

• Others like the University of New England

and the University of Michigan are using
VR to put students in simulations where
they have to train their communication
• Field trips are an essential part of
educational culture and they tend to
provide exposure and practicality to the
students. However, in certain cases, the
field trips do not possibly take place like
due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the
educational institutions are shut down and
the trips are in an impossible scenario. In
other cases, certain trips are too expensive
for all the students to be a part of.
• Virtual reality can be a great opportunity
to take the travel and tour experience
without actually visiting the place, in a
cost-friendly and time-saving manner.
They can see the realistic graphic-based
images and have the views of the place
and even move their head to see the
various angles and views just as they
would have seen it for real. All this is
possible without even leaving the
classrooms. In order to provide more

patient care and the desire to provide new
services, while at the same time controlling
costs, healthcare providers are leveraging

extending the reach of healthcare
• Adaptive Quizzing (AQ) is a tool that provides
personalized quizzing and remediation for
students based on their performance and

• Adaptive quizzing is a fairly recent evolution in

the realm of academic testing methods.
• The lessons will be presented in sections
covering particular concepts. At the ends of
these sections, short quizzes will be presented.
The students answers will determine the next
section of the video or lesson.`
• For example, if the student answers all
questions correctly, they have demonstrated a
high level of mastery over the subject matter.
The next lesson shown in this case will cover a
new concept building upon the previous one.
On the other hand, if the student is unable to
answer the questions, the next lesson shown
will attempt to address their areas of trouble by
reviewing the previous concept.

ultimately speed up the process of drawing blood or inserting IVs.
The patient slides his or her arm into an inflatable cuff, which acts as
a tourniquet. An infrared light illuminates the inner elbow for a
camera that searches for a suitable vein using software that compares
the camera’s view against a model of an arm’s veins. Next,
ultrasound confirms that the chosen vein has sufficient blood flow
for a successful blood draw. Finally, the robotic arm aligns itself with

and adjust according to body and external temperatures, offering
critical help when the wearer is in a dangerous situation.

environment, including gas, chemicals, heat, sound and then the
sensors can notify supervisors of these dangers.

computer apps and smart PPE for improving the
effectiveness and safety at work in underground
mines. They found that, the combination of the
two methods increases the chance of controlling
the risks of working in the mines, such as

Virtual Reality (VR) is a technology that immerses and
transports a patient into a ‘virtual world.’. VR is an entirely
imaginary digital experience, providing a realistic recreation
of a three–dimensional environment experienced and
controlled by the movement of the body .
The computer-simulated environment is accessed through a
head-mounted display (HMD) . that allowing patients to
have a fully immersed, non–clinical, more comforting
experience.
Application of VR in a nursing care setting. Nurses in the

United Kingdom are using VR in burn units to decrease

the traumatizing instances in patient wound dressing

changes with excellent results

Telehealth as the use of electronic information and

telecommunications technologies to support long-

distance clinical health care, public health and

health administration
Patients can increasingly access medical professionals,

including nurses, from the comfort of their homes, thanks to

mobile apps. While patients update their own data to the apps

so that medical professionals can best monitor their

conditions and overall health on a regular basis.

The COVID-19 pandemic transformed patient care delivery,
including an increased need to retrieve data from patients
remotely and between clinic visits. Mobile health (mHealth)
and sensor-based technologies provide opportunities to
reshape a nurse’s ability to deliver care and monitor patients,
particularly with limited resources and staffing. These
technologies are particularly useful for managing chronic
illnesses

Voice assistants may have a future in EHR applications, collecting

patient data in the home and delivering interventions to augment care.

Can be used to remind older adults to take their medications and measure

their blood pressure. also, patients with certain disabilities, such as poor

eyesight, these tools may be especially useful given their voice-based

interaction.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses have frequently
interacted remotely with patients via voice assistants and
robots to reduce personal protective equipment use and
repeated exposure to the virus. These technologies also may
reduce the time nurses spend per visit on data collection and
documentation.
