Thoughts, feelings, and actions are the only things we can control in life. If we
can manage those we can achieve our goals and gain success in life. Young people turn
out to be very sensitive to criticism, even if it’s intended to be constructive. Many will
carry this sensitivity into their adult lives. That's why it's much better for all concerned
if people can learn to self-evaluate their own thoughts, feelings and actions. They can
do so by asking some simple questions of themselves. We can teach and encourage
them to do so by constantly asking them the same questions in a caring way.

Figure 1: CBT Model

One popular kind of counseling is called cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). It’s
based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected and
influence one another. For example, if we are feeling sad or depressed, we might have
thoughts like we aren’t worth much of anything, and we might do behaviors like stay in
bed all day. On the other hand, if we are feeling happy or excited, we might have
thoughts like the future is bright, and we might do behaviors like call a friend or go see
a movie.

Track Your Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors

Sometimes it can be helpful to keep track of our thoughts, feelings, and

behaviors, especially if we are feeling down and want to feel happier. Sometimes when
a person is feeling down, I might not have an explanation for it.
If we can pause and identify our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, we might learn
important information that could help us moving forward. For example, some of the
thoughts I experienced that went along with my feeling sad were thinking that I was
alone and out of step with most of my friends (most of whom are married and have their
own families). The behaviors that went along with my feeling sad were staying in my
apartment, not initiating with my friends, and not picking up the phone when someone
called me. Source: https://www.joshuanhook.com/thoughts-feelings-and-behaviors-

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that

helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought
patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions.

Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on changing the automatic negative

thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, depression, and
anxiety. These spontaneous negative thoughts have a detrimental influence on mood.

December 2019, scientists identified a novel coronavirus (COVID-2019)

that was associated with an outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan, China, and that
was suspected of being zoonotic in origin. It is currently unclear where the virus
has come from. Originally, the virus was understood to have originated in a food
market in Wuhan and subsequently spread from animal to human. Some
research has claimed that the cross-species transmission may be between snake
and human; however, this claim has been contested. Mammals such as camels
and bats have been implicated in previous coronavirus outbreaks, but it is not
yet clear the exact animal origin, if any, of SARS-CoV-2.
As this coronavirus affects the respiratory tract, common presenting
symptoms include fever and dry cough, with some patients presenting with
respiratory symptoms (e.g. sore throat, nasal congestion, malaise, headache and
myalgia) or even struggling for breath. In severe cases, the coronavirus can cause
pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and death.
COVID-19 is a threat to the global community, challenging governments,
health systems, and institutions to effectively respond to it. Low- and middle-
income countries with poor health systems are especially vulnerable. The novel
coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2) has spread
globally since its first report in Wuhan, China on December 31, 2019. On
January 30, the Philippines reported its first two imported cases of COVID-19 in
a couple from Wuhan. One of them died on February 1st, becoming the first
COVID-19 death outside China. After a third confirmed case from Wuhan was
reported, no additional cases were found among the contacts of these cases and
no other cases emerged for the next four weeks (1). Resource:
