Main Heading:

• It is used to indicate what the general subject matter of the entire document is
about.

B. Subheading:

• It is used to indicate the specific subject matter of a section of the document.

C. Shoulder Heading:

• It is used to indicate the main idea of a section of a document.


D. Paragraph Heading:

• It is used to indicate the specific idea of a paragraph.

E. Marginal Heading:

• Also known as side heading, it is used in displayed work such as programs and
plays. They are written at the side thus in the margin.
Activity: Look at the document below and identify the type of
heading that each arrow is pointing to. Label them as main heading,
subheading, shoulder heading, paragraph heading or marginal
