What’s In
Mabuhay ! Our dear Senior High Learner welcome to this 7th module.
A new episode will be showcase as you continue exploring this module. You
learned from the previous module about the different parts of the brain its
processes and functions that may help you improve your thoughts, behavior and
feelings and you explore ways on how to improve its function for your personal
development. You have learned that there are several changes that are experienced
by teenagers like you. Your brain is an amazing body structure. The brain
hemispheres of right and left which influences your personality, study habits and
how you perceive the things that surrounds you. The brain still functions as
whole thus you need to stimulate both hemispheres. The journey to personal
development entails of knowing how to plan for brain to function well and to
manage your emotions.
Intelligence Quotient / IQ is not enough to become successful in life you need too
Emotional Quotient / EQ so that you can cope well and enjoy you journey
wherever you are now. What is your feeling right now ? Are you happy ? Are you
bored ? Do you plan your future ? To identify various actions and emotions let us
perform the next activity.
What’s New
Activity 1: “ WHAT I FEEL , IS WHAT I THINK ”
This activity aims to help you identify appropriate actions when you experienced
certain emotions. Moreover, this is will give you an opportunity to identify ways of
expressing positive and negative emotions and a develop a personal development
plan. Read the questions carefully, write in a sentence your explanation. You may
use your notebook or any sheet of paper.
Emotions are measured through self-report instruments or psychological tests. They can
be measured through physiological ways such as monitoring the heartbeat, blood pressure,
sweating of palms and even through blood chemistry and brain activities. It can be
measured through behavioral manifestation such as facial expressions and tone of the
voice.
Emotions tell you something is wrong – when you fell that something is not
right,listen to your body. Your intuition may be guiding you on what to do. Your
feelings of unease or discomfort can alert you on a potential danger of misfortune
these feelings are prompting you to respond and guide you not to make hasty
decisions.
Emotions allow you to maintain and develop your relationships into meaningful
ones. Shame, guilt, and pride are negative ones. Emotions allow us to realize that
we have done wrong to our family, friends, neighbors and thus we make an apology
for such actions. Positive emotions such as being loved, feeling accepted or
understood warms the heart and makes relationship valuable.
Emotions bring out feelings of self-respect and self-worth. The more that you
feel good about yourself, the more open you are for the many opportunities and
challenges in life. Live your life to the fullest and celebrate your emotions.

Direction: You write your responses in your notebook or in a separate
sheet of paper.

What I Have Learned
You just have learned that Mind Mapping is one of the strategies on how you
are going to plan to improve brain functions. So, may I ask you to participate in
the next activity in which you will make a creative MIND MAP which anchored
to the topic : “
Behaviors associated when experiencing certain emotions.” Please use any
white cartolina/ bondpaper/illustration board or any clean paper available in
the house, coloring materials, cut out pictures from magazines, brochure,
ballpen, pencil,pentel pen and others.
Criteria:
a. Variety of pictures/ creativity used to develop main ideas - 5pts.
b. Ideas ( originality and interest ) - 5pts.
c. Relevance of material ( connected to main idea ) - 5 pts.
d. Visual Impact ( effectiveness of overall presentation ) – 5 pts.
TOTAL 20 pts.
