PINS B18.8.4M
[METRIC SERIES] 1994

IFI NOTES:

1. ASME 818.8.4M is a standard developed through the procedures of

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers. 818.8.4M is under
the jurisdiction of ASME Standards Committee 818 and is the direct
responsibility of Subcommittee 8.

2. IFI in 1982, published IFI-512-S. This document became the basis of

ASME 818 Subcommittee 8 discussions in 1993 which led to the pub-
lication in 1994 of this B18.B.4M standard. IFI withdrew IFI S12-S in

1994 following the publication of this ASME consensus standard. in-

formation concerning government part numbering and reference stan-
dards has not been included in this presentation. However. all para-
graph numbers are identical to those in the standard.

3. ISO issued 150-8752 in 1987 and is preparing a second edition ex-

pected to be published in 1997 (see Para. 1.2 of 818.8.4M). Addition-
ally, ISO is expected to issue ISO 13337: Spring-Type Straight Pins -
Slotted, Light Duty in 1997. This ISO standard does not include double
shear values for austenitic stainless steel.
