B. REVIEW

Last meeting, we’ve discussed about the lay out and cut
the dimension of form sheathing and stiffeners.
Am I right? Yes, sir!

Can anyone tell me a short recap on the previous lesson? Sir! In our previous lesson
we’ve discussed the tools on
how to lay out and cut the
dimension of form sheathing
and stiffeners, the tips in
avoiding waste of
construction materials and the
procedure.
Yes, very good!

Okay! Give me at least three tips in avoiding waste of Sir! the tips in avoiding waste
construction materials? of construction materials are:
study carefully the plan and
detailed drawing, cutting
lumbers, always refer to the
schedule of cutting, and
measure twice cut ones.
Okay, very good!

And, What are the procedure on how to layout and cut Sir! the procedures on how to
dimension of form sheathing and stiffeners? layout an cut the dimension
of form sheathing and
stiffeners are: read and
interpret plan and details,
prepare tools and materials
needed as per job
requirements, adopt the
schedule for cutting, mark
2”x2” lumber for the frame,
determine the plywood to be
cut, locate the sizes of the
forms to the plywood at both
ends then using your chalk
line, mark the boundaries to
be cut, cut the mark lines of
the plywood, after cutting,
arrange and classify cut
members ready for
assembling, and ask your
Very good! teacher to check or evaluate
your work.
C. MOTIVATION

Before we start our lesson for today, let us play a game

first. This game is called “GET THE CHALK”. Kindly
group yourselves into three. This will be the flow of the
game, I prepared 6 pictures, I want you to identify whether
it is an example of a TOOL, MATERIALS or
EQUIPMENT. The chalk will be placed here at the table.
For the first round of the game, you must have one
representative to answer the given picture, then for the next
round will be the other member and so on. Of course, there
is a twist in this game.

For example: If I asked, what is my full name?

Be prepared every time, if I say head, hands on your head.
If I say shoulder, hands on your shoulder.
If I say knees, hands on your knees.
And if I say chalk, you will get chalk and write the answer
on the board immediately.

Is everything clear class? Yes, sir!

Alright, let’s start!

This morning, we will be discussing the Tools, Materials

and Equipment in Fabricating Formworks

Class, at the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

1. identify the tools, materials, and equipment in
fabricating formworks,
2. classify the tools, materials, and equipment used in
fabricating formworks, and
3. demonstrate the proper handling of tools, and ways
on how to properly maintained the tools.
LESSON PROPER
A. ACTIVITY

Class, I will show you a video about fabricating

formworks. I want you to watch and observe carefully.
(VIDEO)

Did you understand class? Yes, sir!

Class, let me ask you first a question: From the video Sir! As I observe, they used
you’ve been watching, what did you observe? lumber, nails, and plywood to
fabricate a formwork, and
they demonstrated the steps
or procedure on how to
fabricate formworks.
Okay, very good. Sir! The tools and materials
What are the tools they used in fabricating formworks? they used are claw hammer,
pencil, pull push rule, try
square, steel square, crosscut
saw, chalk line, lumber, and
nails.

Very good.

How about the materials they used for fabricating forms? Sir! the materials they used
are plywood, lumber, and
nails

Wow, awesome!

What is the relevance of fabricating formworks? Sir! The formwork serves as

mold for concrete structural
components unless such mold
is provided by the soil, other
structural components, and
etc.
Very good.

And what are the equipment they used in fabricating Sir! The equipment they used
formworks? are gloves, safety shoes, and
helmet.

Wow, brilliant.
C. ABSTRACTION

TOOLS:
1. CLAW HAMMER (Picture)
It is used to drive and pull-out nails on wooden surfaces.

2. PULL PUSH RULE (Picture)

Flexible tape that slides into a material case and it is used
to measure irregular and regular shapes.

3. PENCIL (Picture)
Used to layout or mark cutting lines.
4. STEEL SQUARE (Picture)
Framing square used to mark out the work for squaring and
checking of angles and is used in the construction of roof
framing and large furniture.

5. TRY SQUARE (Picture)

Tool used in squaring, measuring, and testing the
squareness of a wood.

6. CROSSCUT SAW (Picture)

Handsaw used to cut the wood across the grain.

7. CHALK LINE (Picture)

Used to establish a straight line on a surface.

EQUIPMENT:
1. FOOT PROTECTION (Picture)
Safety shoes with impact protection are used in work areas
where heavy objects or tools could be accidentally dropped
on the feet. Safety shoes with puncture protection are
required when working around nails, wire tacks, scrap
metals and other objects that could fierce the feet.

2. HAND PROTECTION (Picture)

Gloves are required to protect your hands from cuts,
scrapes, punctures, burns, chemical absorption, and
exhaust temperatures. It is crucial that the type of glove
being used is the right one for the job.

3. HEAD PROTECTION (Picture)

Helmet is required to protect the head from falling objects
and electrical shock. Protection must be worn when
working under other employees or when operations are
being conducted overhead of your work area or when
working with electrical connector that may come into a
contact with the head.

MATERIALS:
1. LUMBER (Picture)

the ways on how to properly maintained the tools.
Yes, sir!

Alright! Let’s start!
