COMMON USE SELF SERVICE CHECKIN KIOSK
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. The following reference documentation shall provide guidance to the Employer in the detailed design
and execution of the project. During the course of Project implementation, Document references
which are not included below will be provided when available.
1.3 DEFINITIONS
A. The Self Service Checkin Kiosk shall allow passengers to perform all aspects of the passenger check -in
process including passport check, security questionnaire, seat selection, printing of boarding cards,
printing of baggage tags and payment. Once the pass enger has completed the check-in process at the
kiosk they will take any luggage to a bag drop desk to allow their bags to enter the baggage system.
B. The CUSS shall provide a self check-in service to passengers without the need for ground staff.

A. General
2. The KIOSK management application shall be capable of supporting fifty (50) concurrent users
as a minimum.
4. All interface messages shall be processed within three hundred (300) milliseconds.
B. The Kiosk Management Application shall be a web-based graphical tool for monitoring and managing
a network of Kiosks spread in different locations in the Airport.
C. The Kiosk Management Application shall be able to display the status of each Kiosk as well as each
device and sub-System connected to each Kiosk.
D. The Kiosk Management Application shall provide general information and statistics for each Kiosk and
its peripherals.
E. The KIOSK shall enable passengers to perform without the help of a Check-in Agent all check-in
operations similar to the ones performed at a manned check-in counter
F. The passenger will have first to select the airline from which he bought his ticket, whether this airline
is the operating airline for the flight or not;
1. The selection will be done by the passenger through the airline logo displayed on the touch
screen.
ii. Reading of his travelling document (passport etc.) on the multipurpose document
scanner;
iii. Reading of a Frequent Flyer card or any other privilege card on the DIP card reader.
G. The self-service kiosk shall allow the passenger to pay for extra fares using unattenden pos devi ce
with DIP or contactless (NFC) readers.
1. Perform simultaneously all the same operations for co-travelling passengers, in particular the
seating selection;
2. Perform the same operation for connecting flight, with printing and collection of transfer
airports and of as many boarding passes as needed and printing of connecting airports on the
bag tags;
3. Allow the use of remote boarding card (home-printed or smart-phone recorded boarding
cards).
I. The design of CUSS check-in kiosks shall be clearly visible to passengers without dominating the area.
It shall reflect the aesthetical spirt of the Airport so as to appear an integral part of the building.
2.6 HARDWARE
B. The KIOSK shall include maintenance access door, which provides full access to all active components.
C. The KISOK shall be scratch resistant and protect the internal equipment against liquid drops, dust and
dirt.
D. The KIOSK Unit shall have adequate ventilation for the components inside.
