Introduction
1: Welcome Yes Talking Yes Hello, and welcome to Udemy’s How To Create a Udemy
Head Course...well...course! My name is Danielle Leslie, and I’ll be
guiding you through the process of distilling your expertise into a
well-crafted online course with the potential to change the lives
of students around the globe. Sound exciting? Let’s get
started.
Bottom line: if you can dream it, you can teach it on Udemy.
2: Course Y Mashup Y This How-To course will cover everything you need to know to
Landscape develop your own online course on Udemy. Let’s start by taking a
stroll through how the course is laid out:
Under each section, you’ll find multiple lectures. This is the meat
of the course. You’ll see that lectures can come in various
formats -- video, audio, presentations, text, and a hybrid of video
synced with slides that we call a mashup. This lecture itself is an
example of a mashup.
3: Resources Y AUDIO Y Welcome to your personal tour of Udemy’s resource landscape!
Landscape ONLY What do we mean by that? Well, this course is just the jumping
off point for a huge variety of resources that Udemy’s instructor
team has developed to help you along with every step of the
course creation process. As you can probably tell, this is an
audio lecture. These are really powerful when you’re asking a
student to do an activity in parallel with the lecture. So, let’s open
up a new tab on your browser, and investigate these resources as
we walk through them. The link to each resource is in the lecture
description.
Our next stop in our tour of the Udemy resource landscape is the
Udemy Studio. Just click on the link in the lecture description to
see the group (you’ll have to request to join). The Studio is our
vibrant, 24/7, online instructor community, where you can talk to
all of your fellow instructors (and to us here at Udemy!) anytime,
anywhere. Here, you can post course videos for feedback to see
if you’re on the right track to creating an amazing course. Having
some problems with iMovie? Post in the Studio. Want to see if
any other instructors are teaching courses on knitting? Post in
the Studio! This is a truly powerful resource for technical support,
feedback, and old fashioned encouragement -- powered by the
Udemy team and your fellow current and soon-to-be-instructors.
These resources are just the tip of the iceberg -- we’re constantly
building new support materials and learning from the many
insights of the Udemy instructor community. Check out a
comprehensive list of resources in the supplementary material on
the right, and make sure to check back periodically for the latest.
