WHAT IS WIFI ROUTER:

A wireless router is a device that performs the functions of a router and also
includes the functions of a wireless access point. It is used to provide access to
the Internet or a private computer network. Depending on the manufacturer and
model, it can function in a wired local area network, in a wireless-only LAN, or
in a mixed wired and wireless network.

Steps to configure cisco WiFi routers in a packet tracer on


a network.
Step1–Open Cisco PacketTracer.

Step2–Dragand Drop 2 PC,1 Laptop,2 Routers and 1Switch.

Step3 – Connect Router to Switch andSwitchto PC using Straight wireand


Wireless router to Laptop.Connect Wireless router to router.
Step4–ConfigurethePC

1. Click on PC0 & go to Desktop


2. Then Click on IP Configuration & set IP address
3. Similarly,do for all the PC’s & set IP address.
Step5–Configurethe Router
1. Configuration of Gigabit Ethernet 0/0
a. Click on the Router & go to Desktop
b. Select interface Gigabit Ethernet 0/0
c. Set IP Address and Subnet Mask for the Router

2. Configuration of Gigabit Ethernet 0/1


a. Click on the Router & go to Desktop
b. Selec tinterface Gigab t Ethernet 0/1
c. Set IP Address and Subnet Mask for the Router

Step6–Configure Wireless Router
1. Click on theWireless Router & go to configuration
2. Select Internet interface
3. Give IP Address of Router as Default Gateway for Wireless Router

Step7–Configuration of Laptop
1. Click on Laptop & go to Desktop
2. Set IP Address,Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

Step 8 – To check whether the data is sent properly from one
device to another

1. Click on PC0 & go to Command Prompt


2. Write Ping command and IP address of Laptop and click enter
3. Data is sent successfully
