Love as Attraction

inner and outer beauty of the person
Love as Desire
Wanting a good for yourself; desiring goodness
and happiness
Love as Goodwill
Willing (or desiring) the good of

Chastity
➢ To avoid our confusion to Love and Lust let us
see the meaning of Chastity.
Lust – a distortion of truth
Abstinence – a “No” to sex
Chastity – a “Yes” to love and “a sure way to
happiness” (Love & Responsibility p.172)
Chastity
● Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality
within the person and thus the inner unity of man in his
bodily and spiritual being.
● Sexuality, in which man's belonging to the bodily and
biological world is expressed, becomes personal and
truly human when it is integrated into the relationship
of one person to another, in the complete and lifelong
mutual gift of a man and a woman.- CCC 2337
➢ It includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery which
is a training in human freedom. The alternative is
clear: either man governs his passions and finds
peace, or he lets himself be dominated by them and
becomes unhappy. - CCC 2339
➢ The virtue that directs all our sexual desires, emotions and
attractions towards the dignity of the person and the real
meaning of love

➢ When I am chaste, I am saying YES to LOVE

➢ Chastity makes no sense without Love. The whole purpose

to be chaste is to love others as they deserve to be loved.

➢ Why? Because they are persons with dignity and not

objects for pleasure

to one another becoming as one.
“Love in marriage refers not to any
superficial, romanticized sentiment, but to the
deepest, most fundamental reality of human
life… But we fin fulfillment only when accepted
as a person, only in personal. Only love affirms
us in our basic human dignity because it
accepts us in our very selves.” -CFC 1909

be present to the Lord.
It is called blessedness commonly for it is a
sacrifice, but it is for God, and the Church
recognize for it is a act of HOLINESS.
The Religious life
• The degrees of the sacrament of Holy Orders
The (1) diaconate, (2) the priesthood and
(3) the episcopate are intimately related as
grades of the one sacrament of Holy Orders,
received successively and inclusively.

• At the same time, they are distinguished

according to the sacramental reality
conferred and their corresponding functions
in the Church.
● Ordained person do not have difference with the

instruments of God to continue the work of Jesus

God, he acts in the person of Christ (in persona
Christi), they are also called (alter Christus)
meaning another Christ as representation of
Christ whose responsibility is to proclaim God’s
word as he continues his ministry.
“Consecrated men and women, generally known
as Religious, playing an indispensable role. . .
They consecrate theme-selves totally to the
service of God and neighbor.”- PCP II,448

is the first responsibility to help our friend to
become a better person. We are each of us, as
created beings, made for a purpose.
