Teaching and learning entails the process of imparting knowledge to learners , that should be
done in line with National Standards and Performance Indicators for schools(NSPI) in
Namibia.
Principles that teacher should possess:
1. Subject knowledge
2. Be prepared for every lesson
3. Know his /her learners
4. Be caring
5. Civility and have understanding general understanding

Teaching process
1. SYLLABUS
A course description for a subject within the curriculum/ a blue print of
every teacher that outlines what should be taught in every subject. (latest

Outlines the purpose of the subject – rationales & aims gives reasons &
direction of the course /subject
The subject content – described in themes & topics
General objectives - defined in terms of what learning is intended to
happen at the level of a subject

Specific objectives - - significant cognitive operation ,skills , attitudes & values which
learners should demonstrate and they should be assessed on.
Assessment- how learners should be assessed and how the course will be evaluated
Importance & Uses :
It’s the blue print of every teacher
It is used to draw up the year plan & year planner
Lesson delivery & Assessment should be done in accordance to the syllabus.
NB : Correct syllabus interpretation is expected from every , Teachers should teach
the syllabus but not the textbook.

Importance of lesson plan
• At preparation stage, it helps teachers to think deeply & research
about the lesson content and beyond.
• Guides the teacher on what to do
• It allows the teacher to know if they have achieved the lesson goals or not
• Inform the supervisor about the quality of teaching( prior and post).

Correct syllabus interpretation of syllabus, effective lesson planning and lesson
delivery will culminate in
