The denominator tells us into how many equal parts the whole has been divided into.
The numerator tells us how many equal parts out of the whole number

Place Values with decimal fractions
1. Place value refers to the position of the digit in the number and we express this as
(a) Units(U), tens (T), hundreds(H), thousands (Th)
(b) Tenths (t), hundredths(h), thousandths (th)

2. Note that the whole number place values are written with capital letters and decimal
fractions with small letters.
