Experience
Deputy Manager - Cell Modelling and EV Thermal System Engineering May 2021 – Present
Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited Bangalore, India
• Developed a coupled thermo-electrochemical model for Li-ion prismatic and pouch cells to estimate the average cell

heat generation for system-level modelling. The study considers reversible heat loss from the battery which is
difficult to capture using electrical models such as RC model.
• Analysed the effect of fast charge/discharge cycle on pouch cell thermal behavior and cell ageing at different cooling

rates. It helped us in fixing the current limits for the battery during fast charging.
• Parameter estimation and equivalent circuit model development for the LFP blade battery to conduct the battery

pack performance analysis and thermal load estimation.

• Developed abuse model for NMC pouch and cylindrical cell using physics-based material decomposition model

using DSC test data. The model helps in predicting the thermal propagation, onset time, stages of material
decomposition, and critical temperature for evacuation during fire. The study also involves the methods of
mitigation during design development.
• Developed CFD-based coupled thermo-electrochemical model for battery pack cooling system. It involves analysis

of battery pack temperature rise, fixing thermal sensor location, bus bar selection/sizing, and cooling plate flow
rate/pressure optimization.
• Working on developing the digital twin model for the battery pack thermal system using SIMULINK/GTSuite. It

helps in system-level component sizing/optimization and building real-time control algorithms and pack energy
optimization.
Senior Researcher, Lithium-ion Battery April 2019 – May 2021
International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials Hyderabad, India
• Electrochemical modeling and simulation of Li-ion battery. The validation was performed for LTO/LFP chemistry

using in-house test results for half cells.

• Conducted microstructural-based simulation (2D) of the different morphology electrodes to analyze the effect of

particle non-homogeneity on cell performance, stress/strain, and concentration distribution

• Developed the scaling between 2D model and reduced order model (1D) for faster prediction of the battery

performance using SEM image of the microstructure. The study helped us in conducting sensitivity and
optimization study using non-dimensional parametrization.
• Equation-based modelling of non-dimensional P2D model for half-cell LTO and solid-state battery using PDE

COMSOL solver. PDE interface helped us in modeling additional physics in the preexisting model
• Conducted charge/discharge testing of battery at different ambient conditions using battery load tester.
• Worked on App development for performance prediction of batteries with the aid of microstructural image
processing and 1D model. App will help in the faster prediction of cell capacity using SEM images.
• Collaborate with the electric team for model-based design of battery management system for in-house 3-wheeler
proto
• Finding approximate analytical solution of non-linear second-order duffing oscillator system for signal processing
analysis
Judge, FSAE Electric Design Competition Jan. 2021 – Present
SAE International USA
• OOpportunity to judge the global University teams for FSAE Electric virtual presentation event in a panel of EV

industry experts.
• Evaluated the business and design report of the racing teams; scored their presentation based on innovation,

business, and demonstration skills; provided suggestions for future improvement.

• Electric vehicle DFMEA report evaluation in FSAE electric 2022.

Design Engineer, Internship Sep. 2019 – Nov. 2019

Kyowa Industrial Co., LTD Takasaki, Japan
• Experienced the Japanese work culture and gained technical knowledge related to the design and manufacturing of

automobile components in the Japanese business framework

• Built efficient communication with the Japanese workers to carry out the rapid prototyping of the Honda Formula 1

engine cooling system.

• Participated in company KAIZEN (continuous improvement) meetings and suggested some critical solutions related

to material handling and jig design

Research Assistant May 2018 – Mar. 2019
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur Kanpur, India
• Simulated the effect of pulsatile flow on mass transfer in multiphase flow inside microchannels using OpenFOAM

• Explored the regimes of re-circulation inside the ethanol slug for the ethanol-water subsystem and observed that

the vortices generated inside the slug helps in improving the mixing at pulsatile frequency more than 20 Hz
