Instructions :
You will first knit the hat in the round, then knit the tentacles flat, and sew them to the hat.
With 40 cm circular needles, cast on 60 stitches. Join the ends for working in the round. If
that helps you, you may place a marker to mark the beginning of the round.
You will now knit 10 rows flat to make the eyes opening.
Rows 8 and 9 : Knit the 42 stitches, turn the work. Purl the 42 stitches, turn the work.
Repeat these 2 rows 4 more times.
Row 18 : Knit the 42 stitches, cast on 18 stitches, join the ends for working in the round
again.
You will now start the decreases. When there are not enough stitches left to knit with the 40
cm needles, switch to DPNs (or to the 80 cm circular needles to use the magic loop method).
Eyes :
Knit two rows (you may purl the stitches above the eyes, to make the eyebrows more
impressive).
Bind off and break yarn. Separate the two eyes by sewing the middle of the lower side of the
opening to the middle of the upper side.
