Boundary conditions are y (0) =0, y(10)=0
Using following methods
i) Point collocation ii) Sub domain collocation iii) Least squares and
iv) Galerkin.
(OR)
11. b) List and briefly describe the general steps of finite element analysis. CO1 K1
12. a) A stepped bar is subjected to an axial load of 200 KN at the place of change CO2 K4

13. a) Calculate the Jacobian matrix and the strain displacement matrix for four CO3 K4
node two dimensional quadrilateral elements corresponding to the gauss
point (0.57735, 0.57735) as shown in figure below.
(OR)
13. b) For the plane strain element whose coordinates are (0, 0), (6, 0), (3, 5). CO3 K3
Determine stiffness matrix under plane strain condition. Take E = 200GPa and
v = 0.3.Use unit thickness for plane strain.
14. a) Obtain the natural frequency of flexural vibration of a fixed beam on uniform CO4 K3
cross section. Use two element idealization.

14. b) Find the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a uniform cantilever beam CO4 K5
using one beam element and consistent mass matrix.
15. a) A 1mm diameter and 500mmlong aluminium pin-fin shown in figure below is CO5 K3
used to enhance the heat transfer from a surface wall maintained at 3000C.
Use k=200W/m/0C, ρ=2700km/m3, c=900J/kg0C for aluminium; h=20W/m2 0C;
and Tα=300C. Determine the temperature distribution in a pin-fin having the
