Grading System Computation Prelim

The document outlines a grading system that computes a student's preliminary grade based on various components: 1) Non-academic factors like attendance are 5% of the grade, class activities are 20%, quizzes are 35%, and a major exam is 40%. 2) Scores on activities, quizzes, and exams are averaged and multiplied by their respective percentages to calculate the preliminary grade. 3) Preliminary grades are then converted to grade equivalents on a 4.0 scale, with higher scores receiving lower equivalents like 1.0 for 98-100 and 4.0 for 50-74.

Prelim Percentage
=SCORE/TOTAL POINTS * 50 + 50
ROUND IT!

EXAMPLE: SCORE 32 ; TOTAL POINTS 40

RATING = 32/ 40 * 50 + 50 = 90

How to compute the

rating
• Non-Academic
 refers to you attendance and behaviour. No absences,
attending the class, performing and submitting the deliverables

Get the Percentage of NA by multiplying to 5%:

NA_Percentage = 100 * 0.05
NA_Percentage = 5

Prelim Composition
• Module 1 – Activity 1
• Module 2 – Activity 1
• Module 3 – Activity 1
Get the Average of all Activities and multiply by 20%:
Ave_Act= (M1A1 + M2A1 + M3A1) / 3
( 85 + 93 + 78 ) /3 = 85.33
Act_Percentage = Ave_Act * 0.20
Act_Percentage = 85.33 * .20 = 17.06

Prelim Composition
• Module 1 – Q1
• Module 2 – Q1
• Module 3 – Q1

Get the Average of all Quizzes and multiply by 35%:

Ave_Quizzes= (M1Q1 + M2Q2 + M2Q3) / 3
(95 + 85 + 83)/3 =87.673
Quizzes_Percentage = Ave_Quizzes * 0.35
Quizzes_Percentage = 87.67 * 0.35 = 30.68

Prelim Composition
• Major Exam
 Prelim Exam from CANVAS (50 pts.)

Get the Percentage of PExam by multiplying to 40%:

PExam_Percentage = PExam * 0.40
PExam_Percentage = 90 * 0.40 = 36

Prelim Composition
• NA_Percentage = 100 * 0.05
• Act_Percentage = Ave_Act * 0.20
• Quizzes_Percentage = Ave_Quizzes * 0.35
• PExam_Percentage = PExam * 0.40

Get the Prelim Grade, get the total of all

Prelim_Grade = NA_Percentage + Act_Percentage +
Quizzes_Percentage + PExam_Percentage
Prelim_Grade = 5 + 17.06 + 30.68 + 36 = 88.74
