to carbohydrates, lipids/fats, proteins and nucleic
acids.
4. They will be given only 3 minutes to do the task,
right after you’ve posted on the board.

ANALYSIS (Making connections through sets of questions).

The students will be asked by the following

questions: (Can be group or individual)
1. Why did you classify the picture Write short description about the student’s

2. So, how you defined
carbohydrates in your own
understanding?
3. How about proteins?
4. How about lipids?

What are Biomolecules?
Biomolecules are large molecules that are needed
in life. (Elaborate your topic here).
Write short description about the student’s
response here.

Let’s have an activity……..

1. Each group will have given 3 varied

strips of paper about the elements,
functions and monomer of the four
classes of biomolecules.
2. They will be given only 3 minutes to
brainstorm of what specific
biomolecules each strips belongs on
composition function and types of
monomers.
3. A group representative will be posted

APPLICATION (Applying knowledge to the situation).

Nutrition is essential to life. These are substance

needed by our bodies for growth and development.
Regular consumptions of the right amount of these
substances can keep our bodies in good health.
In order for us to track our consumption of these (Students answers the questions)
nutrients, commercial products puts “NUTRITION
FACTS”embedded on their labels so that consumers
will have an idea of the contents they are taking in.
On the other hand, too much and improper
consumptions of the nutrients may lead to health
problems such as obesity, osteoporosis, diabetes and
heart diseases.

Let’s have an activity……..

Group 1

At the end of the activity, students are expected to

answer this question:
1. Why do you think marathon runners eat a meal
rich in carbohydrates the day before the race?
Answer: Marathon runners, tri-athletes, cyclists
like athlete’s classmate, and other endurance
runners eat carbohydrates for weeks leading up
to a big event. They call it “carbo-loading”.
Even high school athletes occasionally have
“pasta feeds” the night before a big game. As a
matter of fact athletes consume massive
amounts of starch and pasta, the energy begins
to store up in their body, saving itself for use
during the event.
At the end of the activity, students are expectedto
interpret the Nutrition Fact Label in to determine the
calories intake in this product:

1. Interpret this Nutrition facts label. And try to

calculate the amount of calories per serving of this
food inside the container of this product
(hint:servings per container are multiplied by the
amount per serving of calories)

Answer: Group 2
Given: Amount of calories = 140
Serving per Container = 2
(Servings per container x amount per serving of
calories)
2x140 = 280 calories
Thus, in every 2 servings, you will have eaten
Now class, let us have another video presentation. over 200 calories.

Students are listening attentively

E. Generalization:

Now class, let us have some sort of Q and A about

our Topic. How important are Biomolecules?
Biomolecules are important as they control
almost every aspect of organisms.
Carbohydrates provide the source of fuel and
energy. Protein provides structural support and
also defense against germs and infections.
Lipids in the body are used as energy storage
that they are important for they make an animal
cells. Lastly, a nucleic acid carrier of genetic
information’s in the cell.
EVALUATION
Matching Type: Write the letter of the correct answer on the space provided.
