11) HSC-ECU

HSC-ECU function is to convert the TCU information with a purpose that its information could
be read by the instrument cluster. If the HSC-ECU was damaged, the instrument cluster won’t
show the transmission’s gear position.

Transmission warning
- When the light is red
2) Warning lights

1) TraXon system have many problems.

Shifting is not possible. The gear in use when the problem
occurred will be locked as a “fail safe function” by the TCU.
If this lamp lights, stop the vehicle, set the starter key to the
LOCK position, wait for approximately 10 seconds, and
return the starter key to ON; driving is possible if the lamp
has gone out.
If the lamp remains lit, contact the nearest Hino service
shop.
 When TraXon has a DTC, this lamp lights on.
 The problem is more serious than the yellow color lamp

3) Shifting indication lamps

Shift indicator
･The instrument console has a shift indicator. The shift position is indicated while
driving.

①Automatic mode
･Shifting is performed automatically without shift knob or clutch operation.
･The shift position [D] will appear at the shift indicator when it is in automatic mode.
②Manual mode
･In manual mode, gear shifting is performed by a shifting operation.
･The shift indicator shows the shift position and the possible numbers for gear shifting.
③Slow mode
･A SLOW switch is provided on the side of the selector lever. This is used when very slow
driving is required for trailer connection, disconnection, etc.
･When the SLOW switch is selected, the shift indicator shows [SLOW].

1) Useful advices

Useful advices: STARTING THE ENGINE

* If the engine stops, you cannot shift the vehicle in any gear.
* The engine won’t start if the shift lever is not at “N” position.
Shift lever selection: N Gear indicator: N

Useful advices: SHIFT A GEAR (with engine running)

* If brake pedal is not depressed, “N” or “D” will not engage (any
gear).

Useful advices : DRIVING IN LOW SPEED MODE

* When the clutch disc is overheated (overload) the lamp
lights on, then the low speed mode cancels automatically.

1) Useful advices

Useful advices : ENGAGED GEAR WHEN PARKING

* It is not possible to leave a gear engaged when the vehicle is
parked. If you do so, the TCU will shift to neutral automatically
when the engine is shut off.

Useful advices: PTO OPERATION

* Always push the PTO switch “ON” with the vehicle stopped,
engine at idle and the shift lever at “N” position. If these 3
conditions are not met, the PTO won’t connect.

Please work while the exhaust valve is open when attaching the
transmission. ①
It wont be connected to the engine if the ConAct has no stroke.

◯After assembling the transmission:
1. Tighten the exhaust plug (③).
2. Tighten the bolt from the exhaust plug (①, ②).
Caution: Keep the exhaust plug open while
mounting the transmission to the engine.
