Panel 1: Firstly, I would like to thank our moderator and say hello to our panel. I am
on panel 1. "Does the zoo promote animal abuse? Yes, I agree with this statement.
Although some people believe that zoos are safe places for animals, zoos often lead
animals away from their natural habitats. We may be entertained to see animals that
usually live in the wild right in front of us. But are they happy to be there, locked and
far from their natural habitat? I'm sure there are many examples shown to you, like
the story of an orangutan longing for its native habitat. Even animals without
reasoning can express their desires. Why don't intelligent humans understand that?
In silence, we have actually abused them. It is better for us to realise that the zoo is
not their home."
Panel 1: For my opinion, we can no longer underestimate it. Hence, the zoo should
take action to prevent animal abuse from getting serious…for example transparent
Policies, Zoos should establish and publicly communicate transparent policies
regarding the ethical treatment of animals. This can help build trust and
accountability. Enhanced Habitat Design, Zoos should prioritize creating
environments that closely mimic the natural habitats of animals. This includes
spacious enclosures, appropriate vegetation, and opportunities for natural behaviors.
Regular Health Assessments, emplementing routine health check-ups for animals
is crucial. This ensures early detection of any health issues and allows for timely
intervention.
Moderator, these are some of the suggested measures that can be taken to prevent
animal abuse in zoos. I'd be interested to hear the perspectives of other panelists.
Moderator: thank you to panel 1 for great explanation, By implementing these
measures, zoos aim to create environments where animals are not only showcased
for entertainment but are also cared for ethically and sustainably. We r going to talk
or discuss about “Should animals be kept for human entertainment”and “Explore the
difference between the natural habitat of animals and their life in zoo” how about you
panel 2?
Panel 2: Thank you, Moderator. It's a crucial question that brings forth a complex
intersection of ethical considerations. While there are educational and conservation
benefits associated with showcasing animals in zoos, we must critically examine the
implications of keeping them for human entertainment. For example, Educational
Value which is Zoos play a pivotal role in educating the public about wildlife,
conservation, and biodiversity. Seeing animals up close can inspire empathy and
foster a greater understanding of the natural world. Conservation Efforts, Many zoos
actively contribute to conservation efforts, working to protect endangered species and
their habitats. By showcasing animals, they raise awareness and funds for these vital
initiatives. Ethical Concerns, On the flip side, there are undeniable ethical concerns
associated with keeping animals solely for human entertainment. This includes the
impact on their mental and physical well-being, as well as the potential disruption of
natural behaviors.
Moderator : thanks for explanation about Should animals be kept for human
entertainment that we are really cleared about it, so we continue our discussion with
more detail about explore diffirent between natural habitat and zoo life.
Panel 2 : Different Habitat, Animals in the wild have vast territories, and attempting
to replicate this space in a zoo can be challenging. The confinement may impact their
behavior and overall quality of life. Zoo life also we can make make more better like
“home” which is We can add more trees, rocks, and hiding spots in zoos. It's like
bringing a bit of the wild to them. And we can also make sure animals have friends
around, just like they would in their real homes. Environmental Enrichment, While
zoos strive to provide enrichment activities, it's essential to assess whether these
activities adequately meet the complex needs of each species.
Moderator : thank you for great explanation from panel 2, I want to continue a little
bit about what is panel 2 explain just now, about whether animals should be kept for
human entertainment requires a delicate balance. We must weigh the educational and
conservation benefits against the potential ethical implications and work towards
finding solutions that prioritize animal welfare. We r going to continue the last part of
our discussion,I woud like to ask to our last panels which is the point is “Is a zoo a
prison for animals or a safe shelter for them” and “the role of zoos in conservation animals
abuse”
Panel 3 : thank you for moderator to give me space for explain about my part, Limited
Space, Some argue that zoos, with their confined spaces, can be like prisons for
animals. In the wild, animals have vast territories, and the restricted space in zoos may
not fully replicate their natural habitats. Behavioral Restrictions, Animals in zoos
may face limitations on their natural behaviors due to the structured environment.
Critics suggest that this lack of freedom can be detrimental to their mental and
physical well-being.
Moderator : thank you for great explaination from our last panel and we continue for
last part which is what is role of zoo in conservation animals abuse.
Panel 3 : for last part which is our last topic for this discussion I got 2 role for discuss
which is the first one is helping animals zoos can be like superheroes for animals.
They do a bunch of cool things to help them out. We also can do like Breeding
Programs, First up zoos are like matchmakers for animals. They try to help
endangered species have more babies, so there are more of them and they don't
disappear. The last one is Learning and Teaching then, there's the learning part. Zoos
teach us about animals and why it's super important to take care of them and where
they live. The more we know, the more we can help. The last role of this discussion is
Avoiding Bad Stuff. We got 3 point whis is No Animal Abuse. We don't want anything
bad happening to animals. The Conservation is Key that Zoos work hard to keep
animals safe and make sure they have a good life. But sometimes, people worry if
keeping animals in zoos is like being in a not-so-nice place. The last one is Balancing
Act It's a bit tricky because zoos want to help animals, but we need to make sure
they're also happy in their homes. We're trying to find the right balance.
Moderator : to end our discussion I would to share or make a conclusion that what
we got from this topic is with legitimate concerns about captivity being raised
alongside positive contributions to conservation and education. Moving forward,
collaborative efforts are needed to continue to improve and ensure the well-being of
animals in captivity. Thank you for all the panels for taking the time and collaborate to
give opinions on the topic......hope this conversation comes with an open heart. thanks
again to the panel who shared their thoughts with each other.
