KENWORTH SERVICE ALERT
Poor Radio Reception This service alert applies to all chassis built with AM/FM radio aerial part number P28-1043-0001. Kenworth has found that the cable can ground inside the aerial base causing the antenna and ground plain to connect. This results in reduced FM radio reception and poor AM reception. AM reception has been found to not function inside workshops and requires the truck to be outside for testing. New Aerial Old Aerial P28-1043-0001
A possible field solution may be to fit an isolating washer / O-ring between the cable and antenna base to prevent the antenna grounding. Ensure the washer / O-ring fits snug to outside edges (small diameter may push inside plug).
An insulating washer may
be fitted between the cable and antenna base.
