Technical Circular 1 to ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-2 was prepared by the ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO
15156 Maintenance Agency on behalf of Technical Committee ISO/TC 67, Materials, equipment and offshore
structures for petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries.
Foreword
The establishment of the ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 Maintenance Agency was confirmed by the ISO
Technical Management Board in June 2007. A copy of the TMB Vote-Form Number: 34/2007 giving the rules
of procedure for the maintenance agency can be obtained from the ISO TMB Secretariat. It is also available
from the ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 website at www.iso.org/iso15156maintenance .
The ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 series has, since publication, been amended by a number of Technical
Corrigenda and Technical Circulars and consists of the following parts, under the general title Petroleum and
natural gas industries — Materials for use in H2S-containing environments in oil and gas production:
⎯ Part 2: Cracking-resistant carbon and low alloy steels, and the use of cast irons (2003)

ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156-2:2003/Cir.1:2007(E)
Materials complying with this part of ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 shall be made traceable, preferably by
marking, before delivery. Suitable labelling or documentation is also acceptable.
For materials qualified and selected for a special application in accordance with Annex B, traceability shall
include reference to the environmental conditions of the special application.
The equipment user may request the equipment or materials supplier to provide documentation of the
materials used in equipment or components and their environmental service limits as defined in this part of
ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.
The tables in Annex E provide designations that may be used to identify materials.

a The maximum shall be 250 HV or 70,6 HR 15N unless:
-the equipment user agrees the alternative weld cap hardness limit; and
-the parent material(s) are over 9 mm thick; and
-the weld cap is not exposed directly to the sour environment.

B.2.4 Use of laboratory testing as a basis for proposing additions and changes to Annex A
Proposals for additions and changes shall be documented in accordance with ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO
15156-1. They shall also be subject to the following additional requirements.
Laboratory testing for the evaluation of carbon and low alloy steels for addition to Annex A is for use with steels
that do not comply with the general requirements described in A.2.1.
Addition of a carbon or low alloy steel to A.2 requires the testing described in Table B.1 for all SSC Regions of
Figure 1 (see 7.2).
Addition of a carbon or low alloy steel to A.3 or A.4 requires the testing described in Table B.1 for the
appropriate SSC Region of Figure 1 (see 7.2).
The steel to be qualified by laboratory testing shall be selected in accordance with ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO
15156-1.
Material representing a minimum of three separately processed heats shall be tested for SSC resistance in
accordance with B.3.
Sufficient data shall be provided to allow the members of ISO/TC 67 to assess the material and decide, in
accordance with the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 1, on the suitability of the material for inclusion, by amendment or
revision, into this part of ANSI/NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.
