Subejct: Clarification in regard to “Competency Based Medical


Curriculum” (CBME) Regulations, 2023.

Dear Sir,

With reference to your letters Ref. No. MUHS/X-1/8262/ 2023 dated


28.12.2023 and 08.09.2023 regarding seeking comments on
“Competency Based Medical Curriculum” (CBME) Regulations, 2023. In
this regards, comments on the following points are submitted as under:-

1. “Competency Based Medical Education Curriculum” (CBME)


Regulations, 2023 is published on 01.08.2023. Therefore, it is
anticipated that said Regulation is applicable with effect from the
Batch of students admitted to 1st year MBBS Program in academic
year 2023-24 and onwards.

The academic calendar year of every batch published from time to


time is to be followed for CBME curriculum accordingly.

2) Further, you are requested to illuminate whether Grace Marks are


applicable for older batch of MBBS students (i.e. 2019,2020, 2021 &
2022) or for only those admitted in academic year 2023-24 and
onwards.

No Grace Marks will be given to any student appearing in any


examination conducted after the publication of these regulations and
MSR-2023 guidelines published on 16 Aug, 2023.
3) You are further requested to guide whether the Internal
Assessment shall be considered as separate head of passing for
University Examination or not.

Internal Assessment will not be counted as separate head of passing


for University Examination. However, the student has to be declared

as eligible to appear for the University Examination based on the


Internal Assessment made by the college authorities (formative and
summative).

4. The supplementary Examination is applicable for all years (i.e. 1st


to final year MBBS) or only for 1st year MBBS.

Supplementary Examination is applicable for all years.

5) The students admitted in 2019 batch are pursuing their final


MBBS, and students admitted in 2020 Batch are pursuing their Third
(I) MBBS and 2021 Batch are pursuing their second MBBS.
a) Will the Phase-wise duration of 12 months and 18 months be
applicable to these batches.

Phase-wise duration will be followed as per the academic calendar of


respective batches.

b) is the clinical posting schedule provided in CBME Regulations,


2023 is applicable to these batches.

Clinical posting schedule shall be followed as given for each batch.

c) Will the internal assignment scheme provided in the CBME


Regulations, 2023 is applicable to these batches.

Internal assignment scheme may be made applicable from 2023-‘24


batch.

d) Will the passing criteria of 50% aggregate in theory and practical


in University exam and 40:60/ 60:40 scheme and 40% in theory (both
papers together) be applicable to these batches.

Passing criteria of 50% aggregate in theory and practical, (and


minimum 40% in each, to achieve aggregate 50 %) , shall be
applicable from the date of publication of the regulations and
guidelines.

e) Will the appointment of examiners (Medical post graduate degree


after MBBS) as per criteria mentioned in CBME Regulations 2023 be
applicable to these batches.

Appointment of examiners as per the criteria mentioned in CBME


Regulations 2023 shall be applicable to all batches who go for
examination after the publication of these guidelines and regulations

f) Will the Competency distribution of AETCOM Module for training


and assignment mentioned in the Annexure be applicable to these
batches or only for those admitted in the 2023-24 and onwards.

AETCOM Module for training and assignment mentioned in these


Annexure shall be applicable to 2023 Batch onwards. The previous
batches shall be following AETCOM Module designed for them.
