PERSONAL STATEMENT
Modern technological developments are dramatically altering every area of human
life. Our lives are intricately linked to computers, from the routine tasks of daily living to the operations of large multinational organizations. My long-standing passion for Information Technology has greatly inspired my choice to apply for Clark University's Masters in Information Technology program with a focus on cybersecurity in the United States. The "pandemic" of cybercrime has long been a problem in my home country, Nigeria, where I was born and raised. As a result of my own experience with this and the experiences of close friends and family members, particularly with internet banking frauds, I started to think about what could be done to prevent future incidents of these crimes, which are obviously becoming more common around the world. I read a lot about cybersecurity and its crucial role in eliminating or drastically lowering the occurrence of these crimes. In the course of my research, I discovered Clark University to be among the top institutions for obtaining an information technology degree. After looking over the program's curriculum, active research, faculty members, and student opportunities, I've concluded that Clark is the greatest choice for someone like me looking to switch careers. My desire to improve my environment has motivated me to enroll in the prestigious Clark University's MS in Information Technology program. My career goals and the department and university I found to be highly compatible after reviewing this program. Because of Clark's outstanding teaching, research endeavors, internship and mentoring opportunities, among other things, I am highly interested in it. I obtained a second-class degree in Applied Geology from the Federal University of Technology in Ondo state, Nigeria. I know I would succeed in this program because of the abilities I have developed over the course of my four years at university and the extensive research I've done on this subject. Among the abilities I've developed are: my capacity to perform independent literature searches; critically assess data; compile, analyse, and present data; and conduct practical studies in an ethical and responsible way. I have also taken various online classes from Udemy that will help me in grad school to get ready for my future ambitions, which include this MSIT program. Some of these courses are: The Absolute beginners guide to Information Technology (2022), The Absolute guide to Cyber security (2023), CompTIA Security+ (SYO-601) and Python. As I already mentioned, this program will assist me in achieving my professional and career objectives, which are geared toward having a beneficial impact in the IT field. I will be given the knowledge, skills, competencies, and leadership potential to have an effect in my sector as a result of completing this program. After completing this MSIT program, I hope to work as a cybersecurity engineer and expert, working on projects that offer solutions to crime and security concerns for government organizations, businesses, institutes, and NGO's. I would be grateful for the chance to take advantage of this life changing opportunity. Thank you for considering my application.
