Wellness Ministry Tip for Losing Weight: Get most of your calories before noon! Studies find the more you eat in the morning, the less you'll eat in the evening. You have more opportunities to burn off early-day calories than you do to burn off evening calories. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. - Philippians 4:6 Changes can be difficult, especially when unexpected. FAITH PROMISE UPDATE

Several of our FAITH PROMISE Partners are affiliates of nationwide organizations. We, therefore, have a connection that goes far beyond what we can possibly do on our own. Our support may be subject to a tithe to the national organization, but prayers and presence is always with our dedicated Partners. Habitat for Humanity is one such Partner. Worldwide it turns 35 this year. Founded in 1976, it reached an important milestone 24 years later (in 2000) - dedicating their 100,000th house in New York City. In 2005, their 150,000 th house was dedicated in Romania. Construction on the 300,000th house began in Naples, FL and the 300,001st house in Zacapa, Guatemala in 2008. Habitat houses span six continents in nearly 80 countries with an impact both here at home and around the globe. As a Habitat supporter, we are moving towards the 500,000th house. From their Newsletter, "We are incredibly grateful for 35 years of partnerships, compassion and support from people like you. Thank you." Another such Partner is Re-Entry Program of Monroe County. This is a much needed program in our community aimed at ex-offenders. They currently sponsor 17 individuals. They are working with another six who are scheduled to be released between now and December 2011. There are also 18 graduates some of whom are giving back to the program, and some who have moved on to be productive members of our community. Sharlene Gilbert is the Director and she writes, "Please find it in your heart to give to us. We thank you for your support." FAITH PROMISE has pledged $2500 to this program and has been paid through September. For more information on the Re-Entry Program of Monroe County, go to www.ex-offender.com. Today there are envelopes in the Weekly News that may be used to support our 12 Partners. You can also use your regular weekly envelopes using the Missions line or anytime by marking your contribution FAITH PROMISE or Missions. The total pledge for this year is $25,000 and payments are up-to-date for of the year. This is a faithful witness of our promise to organizations that serve so many in need with compassion and hope.
