Bme311-Final Project Output

This document outlines a student project to develop an application for detecting brain tumors and lesions using MRI imaging. The project aims to utilize instant segmentation of MRI scans to identify abnormalities. Key objectives include compiling relevant code in MATLAB/Octave and producing an initial application for tumor/lesion detection. A timeline is provided with expected outputs across 7 weeks, including developing introductory materials, compiling codes, producing preliminary results, finalizing the application, and presenting the final report. The overall goal is to explore using MRI and image segmentation for early detection of brain abnormalities.

I. Introduction

(for the intro, to make this an umbrella discussion, we need to start the discussion by talking about the
importance of early detection of brain tumors and lesions, next discuss on the functions of MRI and how
it is the most advantageous imaging system to be utilized in capturing lesions and tumors, then state our
goal for this project-should not be as specific as the objectives)

II. Statement of the Problem

- Why this is relevant

- Why this is needed
- Why we chose this project

III. Objectives

IV. Materials to be utilized

For our proposed final project for BME311-– Introduction to Biomedical Imaging and Applications, we
are looking into utilizing the following materials to achieve our desired project output:

i. MATLAB/Octave Software – our chosen programming language to map out our codes
ii. Personal Computers
iii. Stable internet connection
iv. Relevant Journals/Research Materials

V. Expected Results
VI. Timeline of the Project
