CHAPTER – 2

Research Methodology

Research is defined as careful consideration of study regarding a particular concern or

problem using scientific methods. According to the American sociologist Earl Robert
Babbie, “research is a systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict, and control the
observed phenomenon. It involves inductive and deductive methods.”

Inductive research methods analyse an observed event, while deductive methods verify
the observed event. Inductive approaches are associated with qualitative research, and
deductive methods are more commonly associated with quantitative analysis.

RESEARCH IS CONDUCTED WITH A PURPOSE TO:

• Identify potential and new customers

• Understand existing customers
• Set pragmatic goals
• Develop productive market strategies
• Address business challenges
• Put together a business expansion plan
• Identify new business opportunities

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RESEARCH

Good research follows a systematic approach to capture accurate data. Researchers need
to practice ethics and a code of conduct while making observations or drawing
conclusions.

1. The analysis is based on logical reasoning and involves both inductive and
deductive methods.

2. Real-time data and knowledge are derived from actual observations in natural
settings.

3. There is an in-depth analysis of all data collected so that there are no anomalies
associated with it.

4. It creates a path for generating new questions. Existing data helps create more
research opportunities.

5. It is analytical and uses all the available data so that there is no ambiguity in
inference.
6. Accuracy is one of the most critical aspects of research. The information must be
accurate and correct. For example, laboratories provide a controlled environment
to collect data. Accuracy is measured in the instruments used, the calibrations of
instruments or tools, and the experiment’s final result.

THE PURPOSE OF RESEARCH

There are three main purposes:

Exploratory: As the name suggests, researchers conduct exploratory studies to explore a

group of questions. The answers and analytics may not offer a conclusion to the
perceived problem. It is undertaken to handle new problem areas that haven’t been
explored before. This exploratory process lays the foundation for more conclusive data
collection and analysis.

Descriptive: It focuses on expanding knowledge on current issues through a process of

data collection. Descriptive research describes the behaviour of a sample population.
Only one variable is required to conduct the study. The three primary purposes of
descriptive studies are describing, explaining, and validating the findings. For example, a
study conducted to know if top-level management leaders in the 21st century possess the
moral right to receive a considerable sum of money from the company profit.

Explanatory: Causal or explanatory research is conducted to understand the impact of

specific changes in existing standard procedures. Running experiments is the most
popular form. For example, a study that is conducted to understand the effect of
rebranding on customer loyalty.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. It may be

understood as a science of studying how research is done scientifically. In it we study the
various steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying his research problem
along with the logic behind them. It is necessary for the researcher to know not only the
research methods or techniques but also the methodology.

Research is a logical and systematic search for new and useful information on a particular
topic.

Research is important both in scientific and non-scientific fields. In our life new
problems, events, phenomena and processes occur every day. Practically, implementable
solutions and suggestions are required for tackling new problems that arise. Scientists
have to undertake research on them and find their causes, solutions, explanations and
applications.
Methodology is way to analyse different aspect systematically to reach at a certain
solution for fulfilment of the objective of the study effective methodology and method of
data collection quite necessary.

Field is very important step in the process of market research. Exploratory research was
adopted to carry out the research. It has been carried out with prior planning and with
utmost accuracy.

activities involve the data collection by contacting the respondents.

Research Design

“A research design is the specification of methods and procedures for acquiring the
information needed. It is the overall operational framework of the project that stipulates
what information is to be collected from sources by what procedures”.

Sampling Design:

Convenience sampling method was adopted to choose the sample from the population.

copy of the questionnaire is included as annexure in the end of the report.

Chapter-4: Summary and Conclusion

I had the opportunity to intern at Ucliq Services Private Ltd for two months. I've
been exposed to a variety of tasks carried out by the Business Development
department. Based on my two months as an intern, I realised that I had a lot of
valuable learning experiences that would be beneficial in my future career. Ucliq
Services Private Ltd.'s business development department provided me with
numerous opportunities to not only learn, but also to demonstrate my abilities as a
member of the business development team.

The organisation was very appreciative of my efforts. At the end of the internship,
I successfully completed all of the assigned tasks and handed them over to the
Business Development Head.

The newfound knowledge, which includes knowing how to complete tasks relevant
to my desired career path, is one of the most important things I took away from the
internship. Not only that, but I spent time honing and sharpening the skills I
already had.

After my internship, I’ve enhanced my communication skills and expressing my

thoughts over a topic by being polite and expressing myself gently.
I, also gained a great amount of confidence and now I can communicate more
diligently without losing my confidence and keep my points for the same.
Conclusion

Working at Ucliq Services Private Limited was a fantastic experience. The

welcoming staff and the space they provided for a trainee/intern provided me
with numerous opportunities to learn and grow as a worker. This experience
revealed both my strengths and the areas in which I needed improvement. It
helped me to improve my professional approach, instil a more positive attitude,
and teach me how to work as part of a team and as an intern. The main goal of an
internship is to provide students with real-world work experience while also
allowing them to put their academic knowledge into practise. I am grateful to the
entire team at Ucliq Services Pty Ltd. for their unwavering support in ensuring
that my work experience was truly rewarding. Working in the Business
Development department, in particular, helped me realise my abilities and
knowledge of the service industry.

After completing this internship, I learned about the importance of client relations
and how it is quickly becoming a sought-after skill among employers.
And it's no surprise that, as the market shifts, companies must master client
relations and increase customer satisfaction. Those who do not, especially during
times like the Covid pandemic, will be left behind.

Despite having a limited work space as an intern, I was able to gain a wealth of
experience. I made the most of every opportunity I was given and used my
abilities and knowledge to the fullest to fulfil all of my responsibilities. I was able
to put my academic skills into practise, and my efforts were well-received.
Although there is a gap between our theoretical knowledge and real-world
practise, management staff members are enthusiastic about improving the
current approach, which is extremely motivating.
As a result, I can sum up my internship experience as a watershed moment in my
academic and professional careers. Every day brought new challenges, which I
thoroughly enjoyed. During my internship, I was also able to make some minor
improvisations that left an impression. These lessons I've learned will be
extremely useful in my future endeavours. Being in a professional environment
provided me with incredible exposure and levels of experience. I am grateful to
Ucliq Service Private LTD for providing me with this opportunity and for assisting
me in grasping the true meaning of real-world work experience.
SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

• With a small business looking to grow, it's important to have the right employees in the
company who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves. They have to be dedicated to the
mission. Hiring the absolute best people, you can be a sure-fire way to ensure fast
growth. It’s all about having the right team.

• Rather than trying to acquire new customers, direct your attention to the core customers
you already have. You can do this by implementing a referral or customer loyalty
program, or trying out marketing strategies based on previous purchase behaviours to
encourage repeat business.

• Risk is an inevitable part of starting and growing a business. It's impossible to control
everything, but there are plenty of ways to limit internal and external threats to your
company and its growth. Small businesses need to manage their growth to avert
disruptions that can bring business to a grinding halt.

• Planning your next step, even if that means anticipating all possible scenarios, is the best
way to stay grounded and secure as your business evolves. Set the foundation in place,
water it and watch it grow.

• Customers' perceptions of your business can really make or break a business. Deliver
quality experiences and products, and they'll quickly sing your praises on social media.
Fast growth depends on making your current and potential customers happy with their
experience
